Look at the card's back (the white side) with the rom chip near the top. What numbers, if any, are in the lower-left-hand corner (they are VERY small)? Alternatively, what numbers are on the lower-right-hand corner (they are a bit bigger)?

There are no numbers on the lower left hand corner, (unless you mean the ones ive already posted on the left hand side of the card) ....the #'s on the right hand bottom corner are 133xxx . I have no idea how to tell what kind of card i have or if it is usable because like i said, i dont care much for bev and havent really read much about it.

S04 is the start of rom102 smart card id i think. I never realized that was a real number, it is used for a public cam id for bev hacks.

S01 or S02 card? Whatever... not testable at this time.

stick the card in a receiver with no sat cable hooked up. let it boot up, if you see it searching for signal or says "smartcard is not valid for this receiver' pull card, wait a few seconds, system info screen will pop up. look for a "DNASP Rom XXX REV XXX tell us what the X's say in that screen,

I bought a B*V 5800 DVR recently. The card is like a blue and yellow, with the same S04 number on it as described up there. When I pulled it out, I got this:
ROO XXXX XXXX
Is this thing any use to me for other than aiming my viewsat? :)
Thanks!
No. That's just the cam id.....and that's why I edited it out of your post. That's private info and could be used against you if it's a legit sub card to you.

If he wants to use the card or any card fior that matter he needs an ISO, so reset the card in an ISO, see what it be.

Nowhere. The S0X card is not hacked at this time.

Hmmm....so what are my options past that. It's an B*V 8500 DVR. I've seen all sorts of neat cards like the Enigma, but right now I'm pretty much a total noob. Should I try something like that, or just chuck it and get another FTA? Thanks so much. :)
PS: Should I still hold onto that card?

The B3V 5800 is the same as the D!$h 508, which is jtaggable. Yes, you can use the enigma card, but I would buy an open rom 102 card for it and run the public keyset for it, instead. Naturally, you will need an ISO programmer, too.
PS: Should I still hold onto that card?
Of course. You don't throw anything away with this hobby. Hardware that was once thought to have run its course often comes back for continued use -- look at the history of the atmega card!
