hello , I'm a newbie to this stuff , I have a bell 3100 and originally had it working with an atmega 128 that this guy sold us and hey programmed it for us too but then we had the issue where we lost the channels , now that is working i need to reprogram my card , but i am without a programmer , box key or TSOP , or even jtag.

I'm trying to avoid opening up the 3100 and making a JTAG or buying one but i feel i might have to so before i do that I'm wondering if there is a program that can copy info off the atmega 128 so i have less f** around to do.

* also is there anywhere i could find a schematic for a programmer , its the old atmega not the new usb ( if there is a difference)

thanks

I would almost bet money that these are the numbers you are looking for.
These are the public numbers in use now and were then.

IRD Number: R 00 1864 2028
CAM ID: S 00 6043 6852
IRD Box Key: 8C A6 A8 8C FD E2 E2 63

no matter how you look at it you will need a programmer to program the atmega
When was the last time your system worked?

i dunno where you got that but the faded box key that was written on the bottom of my ird is this :

r0044 62
b/k 2e e8 0(bor8) 3

how does a different box key work in my IRD? or does it matter .. now I'm confused

The numbers written on the bottom of the IRD might be the originals, before the writing of the public Tsop. Thats how I keep track. You never know if or when those numbers could be needed again. I keep copies of the orginal Tsop's as well. With the numbers written on the bottom of the IRD I know which file goes where.

so the box keys and and CAM ID and IRD number are changed when you flash a tsop to it? , is this tsop firmware?

so if i plugged my phone jack to my IRD and updated the cam id/boxkey/ird number get changed?

I'm going with simple jtag reader for the 3100 with the resistors, do i really need these resistors?

this stuff is fun :)
