I'm a newbie in the truest sense of the word..used to have someone program my DTV years ago but have been away from dishes ever since..a couple days ago I was given a BEV 3100 receiver and dish with dual lnb's..the numbers on the card are as follows..on the bottom left in small print: 1020801P00 and in small print on the bottom right is: 125395 ..I fired up the receiver without the card in it and no cable attached to the back to get the system info..here goes..BEV 3100, Software: E541...R00 4405 8619-40

The above info could be completely useless for all I know lol..just wondering if this receiver/card are programmable and what steps I would need in order to do so...keep in mind I have no programmer etc..so I'd need a detailed list as to what exactly needs to be done in order to get some telly..whether it be from Bell or Dish Network..anything would be better than no tv at all..thank you all in advance and I appreciate any and all feedback..cheers! B
on another note..they also offered to give me a BEV 2700 receiver if the 3100 isn't doable..gimme a shout with your feedback..thanks muchly

An easy way to know more about the card is to put it in the receiver (don't plug the sat in coax!) and check in system info what it says.

You'll need a Jtag and Iso anyhow or you can buy an enigma here at the store.

Will do..thanks..so I'll need a Jtag and Iso programmer or just an enigma? sorry if I sound like a tard but I wanna make sure before I make any purchases..which of the two is the more reliable way to go?

Check the card first of all. Then you can decide what you want to do . There's many options to have your 3100 going. Before you buy anything you should read about ROM102 programming, Enigma, Jtaging...

If your card can be unlocked, you'll need a Nexus Unlocker, learn howto unlock, Jtag, learn how to use it, decide if you you go with public or private #s, learn how to program your ROM.

You can also buy an Enigma card, you can make a Jtag or buy one and run public #s with it. You can also try the new Jtag module that comes with the Enigma, you'll need to solder it inside but you won't need a regular Jtag or mess with the TSOP. And you won't need to buy any programmer. This is new so I can't help you more right now.

All the info is here on this site and I suggest you to buy whatever you need from Mili (the store at the top) it has it all and it's more safe.

That's good info, and cheaper to get an Enigma combo, that way a one time unlocker isn't needed and can be the Master of your Destiny.

Better hurry up though, do it now and watch TV for peanuts as things will change by the New Year.

great thanks for the quick feedback..I'll check out the store and opt for the enigma combo here asap!! I've been watching all my tv on this shitty 13 inch computer monitor via torrent sites for about a year or so..talk about a pain in the ass..wouldn't be so bad if I had a monitor I didn't have to sit a foot away from to see!! not exactly ideal when I have company over lol..anyway, thanks again for the info, you guys saved me a pile of headaches here, had no idea where to start.

So .... what do you know that you're holding back from the rest of us? It's REALLY gonna' last till the NEW YEAR??????

You mean it won't all come crashing down on us tomorrow or next week?

All the ney sayers, the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

I hate to sound this way , but what the heck, this IS a "Hobby" and no one (repeat NO ONE) knows how long it will last.

For my money, I would look into Atmega, the venerable Atmega keeps coming back again and again, just one more option for a newbie, easier to deal with than plastic and CAN'T be looped, locked or damaged AND they come with the programmer, too.

Just my .02

Let me be the first to send you the direction of the purist. You have the Cam and can also get your friend up and running with an unlocker and the correct questions in these forums. Use what you have and no more. These guys are getting ahead of themselves. A little knowledge from the fine members here and a few dollars will get both systems up and going. It will also leave you with the option of many more cams to be able to program for the future.

Cards are wonderful however, an Atmega card might be the easy and cheap way to go for now.
