keep trying to erase it again and again. if it does not work, go ahead and try to program it anyway. see if it goes through and programs. make sure you are using current jkeys 2.9.9 i believe it is.

Thanks for response Czy. I can't jtag now as I don't have power to ird. Green light went off and won't come back on. Can you suggest a fix? I'm using 2.9 9. Thanks, Sailor.

Try grounding pin1 and then erase and write.

hey Sailor, you mean the Bev directions I put in another thread? those aren't mine, they're a cut and past from another site, for people who kept asking for instructions.
But they should be good and reliable directions
but yeah like Crazy sometimes if you keep trying, plug and unplug, check your jtag connections etc, it will suddenly work
What does it say when you try to read it in jkeys now?
And like AO says the grounding Pad 1 (to the ird), though I have never had to try it, should wake it up so you can erase

Here's a C&P with further info on how to do that, may help
C&P
If your 2700/2800 does not power up (no green light) after flashing, follow these steps:
Ground pad #1 to the chassis of IRD. Hook up JTAG, plug IRD into wall, bring up JKeys and then click on "Flash Programming". Do not click on "OK" yet, instead, unplug IRD for a few seconds, then plug it back in. Count to 3 and then click on "OK". Now try re-erasing flash and rewriting TSOP bin to IRD.

Actually you shouldn't have to plug and re-plug the receiver if pin 1 is grounded just press OK, that's only if your shorting pins SB39 & SB105 and doing a junk yard fix. If it accepted the flash you wrote to it then try streaming it to see if it updates and that should fix the problem. This process could take a while shut it off and stream it overnight if you have to and then check the software version again.

Jeeze, not working....got the ird to accept flash after 20 times...but green light still will not come on. Any other ideas? I just got my atmega in the mail today and I'm so close. I do appreciate the help from all of you....Sailor

try programming your card and then put in ird and see if the lights come on. that should fix your problem. then let it stream to take the update

ok so you wrote the flash to it and it programmed
did you write a virgin eeprom to it too?
then you put it into the stream (connected it to the sat cable) and nothing happened? did you try turning it on/off with remote, putting card in and pulling it out....no blinking lite as it tried to take the update? no nothing?

You may need to erase SA5 to force it to take update??
btw been a while since I have done this if anyone else has any other ideas feel free to chime in ;)...good luck you are pretty close, you'll get it if you keep at it

Thanks to all who are trying to help. I put a virgin eeprom on her too. I left the receiver on for about an hour and nothing....receiver was streamed before I put public on it. I think it went to 862p. I was getting channel 101 and 500 plus junk stuff. When I left the rec on the receiver got real hot. Do you think it was on without the green light on?
I got my atmega today. I'll try to program and put in receiver, but of course I have to get a cable to connect the programmer to the computer. again, thanks guys for the assistance. I'll program the atmega and see what happens....sailor

I say your there. Just program the mega and your good. The receiver is still on when the green light is off so don't sweat that. Good luck keep us informed.

Thanks aoaoao. I thought the receiver may have been on as it got hot on the top of the receiver. I hit the remote to turn it on, but since no light, I could only wait and see if it got hot to the touch to tell if it was on. I need to get a 25 pin cable to program the atmega. I hope you are right and it is going to work. Thanks for all the help. I'll get back on with the results.
sorry to be such a pain in the azz, but you guys are the only ones who know what is going on.
