I have a 3900 IRD and a dish500. I believe I purchased the wrong LNB and I am having some problems.

In the system menu, it states that I have a 500 Twin, which from the searches I was doing, means it does not have a built in switch?

Whenever I do a Check switch test, I am only getting the 119 bird. My Dish500 has one cable that runs into the LNB, so does this mean I either need a switch or a Legacy Quad LNB that has built in switches?

Would it be better to just purchase a switch or a new LNB? I am currently not getting any channels in and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out. Thanks again!

See if the LNB has a DP on it, if so you need a DP adapter to use a legacy receiver such as you have.
Twin and Quads both have built in switches, but if the LNB is actually a DP lnb, adapter is needed.
A DP+, however, should work fine with your receiver.

I have a Legacy Twin LNB, in which it should work fine? My IRD fails the Check switch function and will not pick up the 110 bird. I know the dish is pointed correctly because I just cancelled my service. Anymore suggestions on where to go from here? Thanks!

crypie make sure your IRD has the most up to date firmware should be P3.52
for a 3900.

OverEasy, how would I check my firmware version? If it is outdated, could that explain why I fail my check switch?

Firmwear should not be a problem in detecting sat. Does the lnb have two coax conectors. The menu on the screen is not going to give you the correct info as to what lnb you have. I run two dave dishes with single lnbs and it says I have a twin even if I run them separatly witout a switch. An s21 switch is about $12 from a dealer, if you can find one loacaly that still has them.
What happened to the lnb for your sub? If you were subbing a new reciever, use that lnb with an adapter.

In the menu under system info. If your firmware is not up to date you will only
be able to pick up 119.

Had to return this LNB to dish to cancel my account.

Overeasy, what firmware # should I have? Because of this firmware issue, could my check switch fail and only show 119? Thanks!

I have firmware: P3.52CLFA-F

I am still not picking up the 110 bird. Any ideas? Should I pick up a switch and test it with that?

My current setup: Dish500 dish with Twin LNB(supposedly a legacy LNB with a built in switch), with cable running into my attic going into the bedroom. I can only pick up the 119 bird, but not the 110. Would it work if I bought a switch and used that in this line?

If it is a twin, that switch won't help anything....it is for 2 single sat lnb's.

Make sure you are aimed correctly, let the receiver take the current update.

The Dish 500 runs into the attic and goes into a splitter, which then goes into the bedroom. Could this splitter be the problem?

It seemed that the dish guy actually ran the cable into two rooms.

Sure it's a splitter?? Not some type switch?? Normal sat signals cannot simply be "split".

Skinerd, I believe it is a type of switch. Obviously the setup is all working because I pick up 100 signal strength on the 119. I tried for another hour outside to move the Dish to get the 110, but nothing.

I noticed there were quite a few inside marks underneath the plastic on the 110 side of the LNB. Could this cause any problems?

It seems like I am stuff between a rock and a hardplace here.
