June 30th I leave on a month long holiday. I have a dish on the RV roof and a receiver for dish. I also have a 102 card and a Viewsat Ultra.
It's easy to find the sat using the dishnet receiver.
It's really hard to find the sat with the Ultra.
Here's my requerst. And keep in mine I don't know how to fix 102 cards but I can load new up-dates for the ultra.
My friend can fix cards and I need something that he can put on the card that will not give me programing but will allow the card to work just enough to use the receiver to find the sat and then I can switch it over to the Ultra.
I need something safe that I won't have to worry about looping my last card.
If anyone has a idea on this situation I would appreciate your thought.
Thank you.

some receivers don't even need a card to point dish. if yours does, it is not gonna have to be in stream for very lng if you are good at pointing dish.

I think I have a 2700 and maybe a 3700 receiver . Are either one of these the receiver you were talking about?
Thanks

Go to rat shack and pick yourself up a sat finder. Leave the 102 and xtra rcvr at home. Your good to go.

The problem there is that you don't know what sat you are pointing at.

Is there not a file out there that will not give me programing and risk looping the card , but will allow the receiver to search out the sat?

Get yourself a copy of a dishpointing software. Choose the locations you'll be in and write down coordinates. When you stop for the night, rough in the dish and turn on the sat finder to fine tune. "dishcumbia pointer" This one may have newer version by now but it works. Let me know and I'll email the 1.1 version to you for evaluation.

Turns out one of my receivers a 301-13 will allow me to find the sat with out having a card in it. So problem solved. Thanks everyone for you input. I feel lucky that there is a site like this that will help people out.
Thanks again.
