Have a friend that was redoing a 102 Rev 247 since the autoroll bin on it went down the other day.

Usual unlock with P/W clean cs 3X and then load the new bin and program.......but whilst doing that a horrendous noise from upstairs (sound like multiple bombs going off) and ran upstairs to see WTF was going on!

The wife was in her dedicated sewing room and that 7 foot tall 4 shelf, book shelf piece of shit from Ikea or Idomo (the white ones) became a Transformer. She was attempting to remove a book from the top shelf and couldn't quite reach and all of a sudden a domino effect!

The top shelf broke, and the books fell onto the 3rd shelf ......which collapsed and on it went. By the time I got up there.....pile of rubble and books, big deal it was at least five years old and for less than $75 can replace it.

The friend then went downstairs and put his 102 in the ird, waited and ........................no video! Hit the Guide and everything is in blue and shown but no A/V.

No problem, will clean and redo. Can anyone guess what happened next???

Went to Unlock and used the P/W and NOPE it doesn't recognise it! :-(

I seen people asking how to get back into their cards before and laughed and never read the <T>hreads.

So, anyone have any ideas or is it an ice scraper?

so i have to ask, when u cleaned it, and ten ran upstairs, did u even write a new bin to it? u'll ge the result u got with no bin.....i know, i've done it before. LOL and it won't recognize pw cause its already open and clean...

Yes it wrote to the card, but forgot to include something. I have two ISO programmers from a friend that used to manufacture these units. They are PS2 powered and pretty slick.....But......I saw the original gerber files and mentioned that there will be a switching and timing problem (dual crystal) but what the heck do I know? He listened to his guy.

Have four of these and guess what, the 2nd crystal doesn't work and the other crystal has timing problems. The usual default setting for R/W in N2E is 50, have to use 900 for both to get it to Read the card, anything less and it craps out around the 75% mark. This is with an old motherboard, AMD 330Mhz and serial port set correctly.

I can't get back into the card since it won't recognise the Password, saved the bin and tried notepad but it's gibberish.

I need to load it into some kind of hex editor to either find the Password and or what line(s) it should be at and then go from there.

The Hopkins/Wright Fight is on next Saturday and I really don't want to go FTA!

just clean it again, use n2edit_v2 do a 1 step clean it will put rev back at 103 DVD


Thanks, but I tried that. The card is Locked and I'm on the outside and can't look in. :-(

As I mentioned in my previous reply, I wasn't there and when I came back down the screen saver (blank) was on and didn't bother to check the bottom red line to make sure that it went all the way, nor I notice 'writing failed' or whatever the error is.

That's all that happened and if there was an error message too late, it did write something to the card and locked it. :-(

Thanks for that Tip and will sniff it out , hopefully that will do it, or it's FTA or an Enema <sic> card.


PS going FTA is more or less a NO GO....after all it's those Korean Bastards that put those that test plastic into the spotlight. :-(

The card has a blocker on it and is LOCKED, with N2E V2.56 asks for the PassWord. Last thing I'd want to do is Glitch/Hammer away at it as that for sure will Loop it (but it aint much use to me as it is, but that won't work).

Someone suggested romexplorer_alpha_3 and I'll look for it here.
Would be nice if some of the more experienced members here stepped up to the plate, but doesn't look like that will happen.

PS back in the old DOS Days, could arc/zip the file and password protect, using freebie Izarc now and don't think it has a P/W option but could be wrong.

Glitching is not an option and sadly the Coders and Experienced Types haven't shown up. Perhaps they don't have an answer and that's OK.

With MPEG4 coming in August, we'll all be Dark by then so it's not a major concern but thought we had Members here that could step up........not the case and perhaps said 'lockout' is serious.


I'm the type of guy that doesn't like to Lose, but it's EGO not $ based...so if I phucked the 102....fine that's the risks.

But really get P'O'd if there is a solution and those that know are sitting on their hands when reading this.

Since you got the gear, you should just get a MaxMel board and St19. you can even run this cardless until the FTA dispute is over and the providers decide its time for the rev update... then you will need your craptacular ISOs that you said have problems, and an auxed 102 card. MPEG4 is only coming in august for HD subscribers.. it will be 2009 before everything is converted to MPEG4 IMO, thats when its mandated in Canuck-ville for stations to broadcast in completeHD.

You can try to reglitch it.. if its showing REV240 then it shouldn't be a problem getting back into it, as there are scripts out there for password locked cards, depending on the blocker you may be able to get back into it if you know your keys (codespace's was like this I recall before the 12/12 ECM).
I don't have them, don't know where they are hiding, but I remember seeing scripts.. I could have mistaken them for ROM10/2/3 though.. which isn't ROM102/103..

I'm at my wit's end and left it alone for a few days. I'm replying to an email and notice have keyboard bounce on a couple of keys (this is an old but expensive keyboard....has tactile cherry switches, not membranes)...hmm.

Try the 'revised' PW and guess what? Yeah, I'm IN!!!!!
Rather than risk messing the card up, drop it off at a friend's and pick it up Saturday afternoon.

Around 6:00 insert and give it 15 minutes, and channel guide but No A/V!!!! Unlock it and 'unknown provider' and the fight starts @ 9:00 PM. Call my friend and he emails me a virgin bin and the working one as he's on his way out and I have a couple of guys coming over for the fight and still haven't fired up the BBQ.




In N2E set the R/W delay to 1000 (only way to finish R/W), cleaned did the virgin, loaded the new one checked and it's locked. Put it back in, got the BBQ on ....had a beer turned on the TV and It's Working!

Don't want to go through that KlusterF*ck of a scenario again! ;-)
