Ive been scouring the pages here trying to find a solution, but nothing seems to work for me at the moment.

-------------
I first followed the phouqueq tutorial on making a simple jtag checked all connections before firing up the IRD and trying it out...no go.
(hxxp://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=76410)

I went through the makeshift troubleshooter by ozz2001 and found that only the first few solutions were applicable to me because I couldnt even get JKeys (latest build 299_26) to detect anything.
(hxxp://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=29591)

I attempted editing the DEF file to add my IRD...no go.
**randomly the IRD drop down box did become selectable once and i was able to select 3900 but got a peek error, after reattempting to read i wasnt able to get any further than 0xFFFFFFFF

I came across another layout of how to wireup a JTAG and tried that as well...no go.
(hxxp://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=16127&stc=1&d=1170219059)

I tried connecting directly to the serial port from my ird, cables run about 6 inches, and through an extension cord ~3ft...no go.

I tried on 3 different computers, first checking settings in Device Manager, then checking the BIOS on each to make sure they are BiDirectional/SPP, also making sure that the port addresses were set correctly...no go
-------------

the only thing about the setup that may be the cause of the error is the grounding. I have it running from pins 18-25 to the ground pad of the jtag, even tried running an additional line to a screw on the case. any suggestions as to where to ground?

ive tried on 2 different 3900s, both with same results. i noticed the green light doesnt power on anymore, but skimmed through a fix for this that I will get back to later. i am under the impression that i can still read/write the tsop under these circumstances

all assistance would be greatly appreciated. have an atmega on the way and would like to get this project going!! thanks in advance.

Serial port?

Jtag uses parallel port.

A 3900 has a 20 pin jtag port, use 9, 11, 13, 15, 19, and ground.
Lpt2 = 9
Lpt3 = 11
Lpt4 = 13
Lpt5 = 19
Lpt 13 = 15

jkeys config = 0x378 right?
lpt port in bios is set for bi directional right. does the jtag work on any other ird. did you wire it up like skinerd posted?

I don't know how to set up a parallel port so it is not bi-directional, even SPP is bi-directional. All printer port settings must be that, or a printer would have a difficult time printing.
