would it be possible to perform the mod to activate the card slot on the 311/811 and throw an atmega in there?
i noticed in wicked loader there are different ways of programming the atmega...NoRSA, ROM102, etc..
seems ok on paper...how would it turn out in reality?

only if you had the married rom 102 image for the receiver, then most definately. using AIO clone utility or actually I believe wicked's new loader has the private bin loading capability

ah i see...so i would still have to unlock and read the icam?
I think I am missing a part of the process. Would i need to extract the married 102 image just to write it back to the atmega?
I thought that activating the card slot bypasses the internal cam and you would be free to use whatever you throw in the slot?

yes the icam still needs to be unlocked and the image saved. it contains the info that marries the receiver to the card and without it, you got a pretty black box good for holding open doors, keeping books from falling over or possibly if you have several of these eyepieces, a good boat anchor

What crazy says is true because with a cardless receiver, there is no other way, (outside of changing the flash chip), to obtain the receiver number, boxkeys, and SKs.

skinerd, I have two loop 811 is there a way to make them to work? I heard 811 tsop can be dump is that true? If so can i use tsop info for rom102 and make them wide open? Thanks in advance

What can be done is the flash chip changed to a new one, with info combined from an old one and a known card bin, written to it. It is a specialty job, not many are capable or willing to do it. Needed are, a chip, equipment to write to the chip and a method of removing/reinstalling it.
The best way of course, is to open the chip that came in the receiver, unless it's a virgin. If it is virgin, or in your case looped, refer to above.

I was prematurely tampering with my 811 awhile back, and i think things took a turn for the worst.
When I power it on i get an Internal Communications error...and the dnasp is now blank. Is there any chance of continuing work with my IRD, short of what you mentioned?

Probably just have a trace not repaired correctly, unless you actually tried to glitch it an it looped.
If it was mine, I'd pull chip, if you suspect it isn't looped, and wire the card slot.
There is a very simple way to wire card slot, have to pull board, lift 4 or 5 resistors and run 3 wires, it's simple, quick, and clean.

Thanks.
If I did go that route...remove the chip, and wire up the card slot, I would then mount the chip to a BGA board so i can read it?

Exactly......
Somebody mentioned here that you can take chip from 811, put it in 2700 and program it. Did anybody try that? Do 301s, 2700s and 811s use the same TSOP chips?

Reference was to the eeprom, not the flash.
