I have some general easy HD receiver questions. What are some of the Dish HD receivers and their features? Which of the HD receivers are the hardest or easiest to JTAG and program? Thanks!

Only the 6000 can be jtagged.
The 811 is not too bad if you can find one with a low rev chip.

Thanks!! Does one have more features than the other or are they just about the same? I also forgot to ask....is Dish HD programming on other satellites or can I just stay with my Dish 500 dish hitting the 110 and 119 sats?

To get the most HD channels requires a HD dish, with 3 lnbs. Or a second dish pointed to the HD sat conected with a switch.

As of 8/15, the only HD channels that will be testable will be on 110, so a Dish 500 will be good enough after that date.

As of 8/15, there will only be 10-11 MPEG-2 HD channels, so you might as well stay with your Dish 500.

How come they will not be hackable anymore? Also, what channels will be left on the 110 and 119? Thanks!

Well not hackable with an 811, because they are going mpeg4. I am not certain of the dates posted, but it should be sometime on or after that.

The MPEG-2 IRDs are still hackable, but only about 10 HD channels will still be MPEG-2 after 8/15.

There is no HD on 119, only 110 (and of course 61.5, 129, and 148 for now).

Would a 6000 with a 8psk adapter be able to hack the mpeg 4 channels?

No. The 8PSK module is simply a tuner for 8PSK modulation. It has nothing to do with the MPEG-4 codec at all.
Now, you can use the 8PSK module from a 6000 with a SonicView SV-8000HD and a special adapter to get all of the MPEG-4 channels, but the cost is prohibitively-high at around $900. Also, I wouldn't touch Viewsat/SonicView with a ten-foot pole now that Charlie is on the prowl suing them.
Just be patient. I've heard strong rumors that both the VIP 211 and VIP 622 are hacked after an iCAM and TSOP swap.

That is too bad.I already have a Sonicview 8000 and the 8 psk,but I cannot find anyone on fley bay to sell me just the adapter.Everyone is selling them as a package, the 8 psk and the adapter together,so I am stuck watching b3v in hd.My 811 is soon to be useless, save for a couple of channels and was hoping my 6000 could have been modified to get some more charlie hd channels.Guess I will keep looking for an adapter and hope Sonicview keeps supporting new software.

Do a search on eBay for both "8psk" and "adapter." You will find that the going price is $250! It was only a month ago when the going price was $100, which was bad enough for a circuit board and a couple of ribbon cables.

I donut know for sure. I do know that they are being tested in the private sector. They both require a BGA TSOP chip swap. Once I know something, I'll post it.

That is chance you take with testing. My advice is, depending on how long you wish to wait for your investment to mature lets say. I would think it may be worth it. Especially if a public hack becomes available for them. They will not be cheap to buy.
