I was in the game years ago. I had a model 2000 IRD and AVR3 if that tells you how long ago it was ;) I want to get back into the game. Actually, I only really give a hoot about getting KDKA out of Pittsburgh (I am in the spot beam) and anything else is a bonus. The sad thing is that I'm perfectly willing to PAY for the damn channel if the FCC would allow me to get it :\

I have no gear other than a DishPro 500 dish and a 301.10 on loan. Nothing else. Is there a thread that breaks down the various current methods with all the pluses and minuses for each? I know the routine, read, read, read, and I have and am still lost.

Thanks :)

i guess the question is easy or cheap. you can mod your .010 using some of the jtag guides here, to either public or private numbers. there are lots of testing methods currently working. atmega may be what you are after as it has proven itself time after, the software is user friendly, and the card iteslf is fairly inexpensive. if you don't wish to modify yourself take a peek in mili's store. good luck

What you need:

1. J-tag
2. Card (enigma, atmega 128, atmega 256, rom 102, etc...)
3. Unlocker (only needed if you get a rom 102 card)

I would recommend getting a non plastic card because they are cheaper and easier then a real rom 102 card. The cheapest is an atmega 128 but the cards that will most likely last longer is the enigma and atmega 256.
Good luck :)

Cool, thanks guys. Cost isn't a huge factor, well, it is, but ease is more of a factor. I remember the atmega from back in the day, but from looking at the store, they're a bit different than what I remember. I'll check those out...

I'm using a 301.010 IRC w/private numbers and rom102 card. Used Mr. tierworks for my tiers (KDKA is one of the tiers) and No B1 blocker. Great reception on KDKA.
