I just received today, installed drivers, set com port and cannot get this to work, all I get is timeout reading from com port, have changed multiple settings, have tried another computer, still can't get it to work. any suggestions, thought it was my new laptop but won't work on my desktop either.

try setting the settings to 100 on both delays in drop down file box in n2edit. your laptop may be too fast. otherwise try all com ports.

have tried almost all the settings on the delays, also tried on a third computer another desktop and no go on it either, have been using romcode to test

I guess I have a 90.00 paperweight, card reads with a white nexus with n2edit and romcode, n2edit with the iso gives no atr.
Did you look in hardware manager what COM port the serial to USB software assigned to your USB ISO? Did you set COM port in Nagra2Edit's settings to that?

That is one thing that bothers me when trying to help some people.
Computer skills are very nescessary to use computer programs and devices.

Bad thing is assuming that they already know these things. That's why sometimes it's so hard to help others.
It may also be possible that the ISO is dead although this will be the first USB ISO that is. If it is I will of course replace it, read ww.dssmili.com/rmf.html please.

I have worked with this thing for hours on end, changing com ports in device manager and n2edit, changing every setting that I could, byte delay, tranfer speed you name it, pulling usb cable after every change, makes no difference, all I get is timeout reading com port,
I have been doing this since the h card days, and I have always built my own computers, and can normally fiquire most problems out but this one, three different computers all the same problem, only difference is laptop is vista, desktops xp pro. have tried moving to differnet usb ports, have uninstalled driver and reinstalled, romcode software gives me the timeout error, n2edit says atr error, have tried different versions of the programs.
The green light on the programmer is on, open to any suggestions someone can comeup with.

I got the same problem, programmer dont see the card, but following the sugestion on this thread..i just have to put in N2Edit the same port as in hardaware manager...
now i can see the cards!!
but, i still have problems, this is what i get when triying to read:
501 sub
yellow card sw-02
CAM Type: ROMS01 Dsh609
CAM Not Supported
301 sub
orange card AA-08
CAM Type: Unknown Dsh725
CAM Not Supported
any advice please?
Sounds like your timing is still off. Try adjusting your read and write delay by 20 at a time starting from zero.

Those roms are not unlockable at this time. That's what it means by "cam not supported". You need a rom102 or rom103.

So to clarify... SW-02 cards are still pooch screwed?
And I assume those old ROM 10's are far gone too, right?

Correct on both assumptions.

::sigh::
In all this Enigma mess, I pulled out that SW-02 card and was crossing my fingers. LOL! Ahhh well....

Those are correct readings for those card types, they are not hackable at the present time and the software does not support them.
1st one is a SW-02 and the second is a ROM 206. Put them away for now.

i had one sent to me that was also bad, no atr no matter one, I put a 1k ohms resistor on the 14 leg chip jumping pins 1 and 14 with the resistor and it works perfect. Someone told me to do this, I did not figure it out. just a quick 99 cent fix that makes them work. worth a try

this is a c/p from CC...can't find that info here oddly enough
If you recently bought a USB ISO programmer and can't get it to work, it is because the manufacturer of one of the chips changed fabrication technologies and the voltage biasing is slightly off.
To correct the problem, simply jumper a 1K resistor across pins 1 and 14 of the through hole chip. These are the 2 pins closest to the blue capacitors. Your USB ISO Programmer should work like a charm after that. Other resistor values like 512 Ohm, 2.2K or something close to 1K will probably do the trick if you don't have a 1K around.

Anbody have a picture of above resistor hook-up, My USB ISO does not work and would feel a lot safer if I looked at a pix first being the hammer and chisel type of guy

O.K. got a 1k ohm resistor 1/2 watt 5% tolerance from radio -shack still nothing ! is there a certain resistor wattage? tolerance etc???, maybe this is the second dead one Mili !, cable is good reads usb atmega, green light is on so it is getting power. It just doesn't read in RC, Nedit 2.58 or any other program... any thoughts???

I used a 1k 5% tolerance 1/2 watt on the one I did and it works fine. Be aware that these do not work on every computer...for example, it doesn't work (nor is it seen by windows) on my laptop... just my desktop.

well I think I have the driver.. it now shows usb as com 5. I do get no ATR. Am I going to have to add the resistor?? any way to tell? I thougth I bought the black one on the site and it ended up some gray model, probally the same thing. I'd just like to figure out how to make it work.

Alright made some progress. I got it to read the ATR a few times, but it works only one out of 10 tries. Could this be the resitor thing? I so far I am dissappointed in this product. My serial iso worked great right out of the box. I think I understand why this was on sale. Milli, if I solder the resitor in and it still doesn't work, can I still send it back?
