which FTA is best to buy .

Hey guys iam having problems with my Atmega and looped a 102 plastic , and my 3000 IRD is bad, i have few here and there but thinking about playing with FTA.
so for about 100- 150 bucks what is the best one with lots of help here and available bins when things are down . there are many , iam looking for something simple and that it dont go down every other day.
some guys told me Pansat 2700 . i can buy it for $100 . is that a good unit.??

Not sure what the price ranges are, I do not test any fta but from cruising forums i have always thought viewsat was about the best. Now they are in the middle of lawsuit with dish so if their support continues to be as great as it was in the past. I do not know.

as long as there is money to be made there will be support....and about the lawsuit who the heck know where that will go..but in my opinion it wont be settled anytime soon......and i thought the question was which is the best fta unit to buy..not about plastic etc.....i have had a pansat clone here been up 2 1/2 yers support is greta..and they do have newere models out now

For 170.00 the VS Ultra has been rock solid with better pic than 301, faster guide, etc. You can load bins with USB drive so no need to unhook or move it. It's so easy. Support is great and if Charlie finds a way to slip keys past box there is a keygrab prog that gets keys fast, load on USB and you're up again and usually within 24 hours there is a new bin good for another month or sometimes longer. I hope support continues to be as good as always , but there are no gaurantees. Good luck in whatever you choose!

Please don't take this the wrong way mtmt1us, but how the hell is it that a FTA box has a better picture than an Echostar box? I've read this before. Seems to me that it's the specific set up that leads to better picture quality. The 301's get just as good a picture as any non-HD receiver don't they? As long as the cable, fittings and aiming are good, how much difference can there be?

VS ultra is good. Good support and the fastest [rocessor last I checked. The coolsat is nicer inteface, simplier to set up. Probably doesn't have quite as sharp support

Several of the FTA RGB output sections are really high quality. The higher end Coolsat, Conxsat, Sonicview for instance all have very good pic quality when using the RGB output sections. They actually look much better then Viewsat units side by side and better then the S-Video outputs on Echo boxes. You can see the difference on a scope. Oh and most have Optical and CoAx audio outputs. Something else that the common Echo boxes are lacking, decent digital audio.
Dont know about support on them but you can check several FTA forums for that answer. I surf real FTA and love them for that. Motor control is excellent with Coolsat for instance. I think their homesite is F2atv. You would get a lot more FTA info there then here.

I have to disagree with you on pic quality. I do have ultra's, 301's and 3900's. The 301's have the best pic quality, but don't take me wrong it's nothing major at all. But the utlra's guide and some things are faster than the 301's. Both have pros and cons.

The faster processor I guess. I used to install for Charlie and I have seen just about every configuration on various makes and models of tv's and I swear that it is better! My friends that still install come over to watch UFC and are impressed with the quality of pic. Not only that it doesn't have as bad of rain fade than echo* and if it does start to go out it pixilizes some but does not give you the stupid nag 1 thru 5 that takes a minute or two to complete before you can watch tv again. Very fast in every respect. Guides,menus,etc are all faster than echo*. It is different and takes a little getting used to the remote which I will admit is the only thing I did not like about this IRD ,but now that I've had it awhile it is no big deal.

i would buy another ird and card. i wouldnt touch fta unless neighbor sold it to me and it was shipped to his auntiees house with payment made by his best friend that was killed in a boating accident...then i might buy it, but supports gonna be gone soon for all..

I ain't no FTA guy, but if support is dependant on when this lawsuit if final it could be a long time before support is gone. I would say minimum 1 year, no telling how long the maximum with continues and appeals. Our legal system is like frozen shit. Its slow and it smells very bad !!!!!

As for support, viewsat is usually the first one out with a fix. Even the last two updates and this is after the lawsuit. They gonna continue to support to the last minute so they sell more units. I don't see support stoping unless dish stops it somehow or they lose in court (which will be a long way off).

And as for best box for the price. The ultra is a good deal and with easy to load usb for around 160 or so.

I owned CubeCafe Relook 400S for a while and it's a great machine it's a DVR I installed a hard drive on it and equiped with component output, network connected to my router it autorolls and even if autoroll not working no problem you don't have to enter the keys manualy just update the opencam via network to a support website and it enter the new keys for you in few seconds no cards to mess with, record video and transfert to your computer for editing without leaving your seat all via network, till this minute I've never got a black screen, the fun part is you can custom the background radio, welcome screen.... with your personal pictures it's all fun.

its not against the law to buy a fta unit. it is only against the law to modify them to receive dick or beverly there-for you can buy them anywhere....

maybe not anywhere....probably don't want to buy a unit from a site whose sister site you plan to download the illegal modifications from...you never know, one or the other coud get busted...believe it has happened before lol
Best place to buy is at a store in the city. pay cash money and leave no trail. Even with fta err on the side of paranoia :eek:
or wait a while before ya buy anything to see what is standing in a few weeks

ok guys thats pretty hot. i have a 301 13 but never played with FTA , anyone nows of exact process to load it with files to an FTA, its already modded and jtaged for Dish.
i have no idea what programs and what files to make it an FTA, would be nice to start here i guess.
and anyhow i have sw64 thats not going to work, how about if i use thats Dishpro 110 119 with sw21 seperate for the 301 to FTA.,
any guy can give me step by step to do so.
