View Full Version : Ebay sells email list to spammers
It's confirmed now. I set up an Ebay account a couple months ago and used an email addy specific to that Ebay account. Now, on a daily basis, I get at least two spam emails advertising dick pills and online gambling. It's pathetic. Between fleabay and gaypal we have no privacy using that service.

Mine goes halfway across the street so I have little use for pills, pumps and the like :D
I've never had a problem with EBay but GayPal has been hands down the worst online business experience I've ever encountered (Legit transactions).

I got them sub to my old address
I am getting 300 per month
At least that better the one of my G-Mail address I use for junk mail, 1800 per month
Watch out for the fake Pay Pal letters, I get one's that Pay Pal does not have the address to.
I have never had any trouble with Pay Pal
I get a kick out of the GayPal. Best pun Mili has ever come up with I think.

I've had an eBay account for 6 years and never have been spammed, eBay makes too much money to bother selling your email to spammers (C'mon get real!).
This is my real ISP POP3 email account, not a freebie throwaway. I do get spammed on the freebies and have 3 of them and only use one as a contact. I've noticed that I'm not even on the list when I look at the addressees.
They must be using some sort of wildcard but Gmail seems very prone while Lycos and Yahoo are a bit better.

Because your email was used many years ago is why you got lucky,
Spammers purchasing the list may only take the ones from a certain point in time.
In other wortds, it is possible that in the filtering of the emails, yours looked to old to be worthwhile.

Even if they did sell lists (which they might I havnt got any like I said)..I would highly doubt they would give them your join date information......They would not know which email addeys are new and which ones are old
