Does anyone know the proper steps in setting this reciever up... In addition is anyone currently using it right now, and are capable of watching hi definition channels....

In addition are there any good location to find files on updating the reciever...?

Just finished setting mine up yesterday. Plugged in cables, turned on power, and loaded file from Mili's downloads section. Set the sattelite to correspond with my Disecq switch, scanned channels, and I was watching hi-def in 20 minutes tops!

Both, I have a dish 500 for 82 and 91, a 39" for 110, and a 36" elliptical that I play with swiching from 148, 129, and 119. I am going to try and track down 61 tommorow, but it might be pretty hard being so far north and west.

HD works in dish? I thought they swapped over to MPEG-4 08/15...

Haven't tracked down HD for dish as of yet, but I thought I read that the 9000 will pick up MPEG-4. I could be wrong though!

OK, thats what I thought. Doubtful you will get HD on dish as they use the MPEG-4 stream which is only available with ROM206 cards I believe..

Maybe when a 206 is broken.. the 9000 could support the MPEG-4 stream, but if its emulating a 102 card, which I think all FTA's are, your sol.

Packaging tells me that it will decode MPEG 4 with an 8PSK, but you are probably right with the programming portion.

I would find it hard to believe that this IRD is anything substantially different than the SonicView SV8000HD.

Well, it's not picking up the transponders that carry the HD on 129. I assume it can`t decode, or I am too far north to pick them up. I do pick up other transponders on 129 though!

viewsat hd 9000 and SV8000hd out of the box will not work with hd 129 or 82 till it had 8psk vid mod.

How do I go about performing this? I am receiving HD on 82 but not on 129!

Will the mod for sonicview work with the viewsat? Nothing on fleabay for VS but I read in another site that the machines are basically the same.
