Is it possible to control a 510 and a 509 with one remote? I'm using bev on one receiver and dish on the other on the same tv. Is it possible to set up one remote to run both receivers?

Yep.. if they both take an IR one or UHF..

Problem is the one remote will control BOTH recievers... so if you watch channel 254 on bell, you will also be watching it on dish and so forth.. same goes for scheduling recording and such..

Pull cards in the IRDs.. this will bring up the sys info screen. you should see remote address: <#> near the bottom.
Just have to hold the SAT button and it will go out or flash or something.. aiming at the recivers enter the code, anything from 1-5, then hit something else, then the pound key and the rec key or something.. I forget, its outlined in the remote book how to change the remote address. It will change on the IRD when you press rec.. I think its hold, enter code, pound key, then record key.. this is for the 4100 series remotes.. Each remote is slighly different but the same, read the manual.

Hope this helps you. I prefer 2 remotes, so if I am rec on one IRD I can still control the other one without recording god knows what :)

yes, it's better to have two remotes and two receivers set to different addresses.
You have to press rec button three times at the end of the address change programming.

Exactly! This is the set-up I am using with two 301.010's. It works great flip flopping back and forth.
