Probably secondary to the illegal tobacco. Once they get in your door, it's fair game on all your "activities".

I am amazed at how quickly people try to downplay these enforcement activities.
Read the post in the link. The headline relates to a piracy bust and secondly to a tobacco bust.
The last line in the news post states that, "The searches took place following a lengthy investigation involving investigators from the RCMP, Industry Canada and Bell ExpressVu Security".
B*V was in this investigation from the beginning. It was B*V's bust.

Thats because most people won't be affected and only a few will. And out of those, only a fraction will really get affected. Echostar is inept at best and more than likely total fucking idiots. If they would just secure their signal their problems would be solved. The shortest distance between 2 places is a straight line !!!
Looked more like a tobacco bust to me than a sat pirate bust.

C&P of the news release from the RCMP site. Note how they put the tobacco bust first ;)
RCMP seize contraband tobacco and equipment linked to satellite TV piracy, Moncton, N.B.
On October 16, 2007 the RCMP "J" Division Customs and Excise Section North, and Federal Enforcement Sections of Moncton, Bathurst and Saint John executed two search warrants at homes in Lakeville, and Dieppe.
The searches resulted in the seizure of more than 650 cartons of contraband tobacco products and numerous items associated to commercial level satellite television piracy. These included four computers, four modified Bell ExpressVu receivers, seven illegally modified Free to Air card programmers, components for the manufacture of illegal access cards, and several satellite dishes.
The investigation also resulted in the seizure of an additional 14 illegally modified Free to Air receivers from people believed to be clients of the suspects, residing in the Lakeville, Dieppe, Shediac and Barachois areas. Charges are expected against at least three adults.
The searches took place following a lengthy investigation involving RCMP investigators, investigators from Industry Canada, and Bell ExpressVu Security.
The investigation is continuing.

Hmm. 10 cartons of smokes with each FTA sale so when keys change and the FTA goes down you at least have smokes?

In Canada if it ain't on the warrant they can't charge ya with it. They just seize it. Unless they have other evidence to use against you that is.
