My 3100 will not allow me to use my Dish Remote. The batteries are good, & I can operate my 2700 wirh this remote. I can only use the front buttons on this 3100 to turn off/on or change channels. Is there a trick to use a remote on this receiver? I tried a couple remotes but no go. Any help on this would be much apprieciated. Thanks for your help.

It says Remote Address 1. If this is not the right address what should it be, & how would you change it without a remote?

Now check the 2700, if it is also address 1 then 3100 is bad.
If it is not, make it 1 then remote will work on both.

There is no remote address (just an id address)in the info screen in the 2700 but in the menu under remote there is a key code of 2.3. If this is the right code how would I enter this # into the 3100. The channel buttons won't scroll down the info screen in the 3100 to the remote address.

Does your 2700 have the smaller remote? If so I don't know if it is changeable or not. Go to DN tech pages and read up on it.

Remote ID is what you are looking at. Default is 1 but these can be programmed to different numbers. The reason is if you have multiple units in the same room the remotes each control the correct unit and not all of them.

I shut off my 2700 but it did not make a difference, it still wouldn't communicate with the 3100. Which device do you program (the remote or the 3100) & how would you do this. I also forgot to mention that I jtagged it to Bell public bin for my atmega, but it was doing this before I did it. In the mean time I will check out Dish Technical stuff. If you have any other ideas, let me know. Thanks for your help so far.

I went into DN Tech Portal, followed their steps including a hard reset using the front panel power button & unplugging for 15 sec. , but still would not function. They also recommended to get the codes from the mfg but this remote runs the 2700. I don't see remote ID in the System Info or menu of the 2700, in System Diagnosis in Remote I only get the key code of 23.

The original remotes of 301s and 3100s (aka 301-10) is IR 1.5 What type of remote are you using? If you have tried using the IR 1.5 and it didn't work then it means that there's something wrong with your receiver. If you haven't tried the IR 1.5, get one in ebay for $10 including the shipment. You could also reflash the EEPROM with virgin EEPROM and it might be corrupted.

I bought a 1.5 remote but I'm locked out of it. On the tv screen there is a lock icon. I'm not sure of how to unlock it. I don't even know what the password would be since I was given this reciever. I tried 4 rt. arrows but did not work. Tried jtagging with new bin but no go. Any ideas on how to unlock it would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks

Just flash a virgin eeprom to it. You can just load your tsop into FlashEdit and make a virgin eeprom with it.

I just loaded a virgin eeprom, still the remote will not communicate. I tried programming the remote from 1-15 but would not get the code. Any other ideas on this. Getting to be a challenge, thanks for the help so far.

The locks are stored in the eeprom so a properly virginized eeprom should set everything back to factory defaults.
There's a slight possibility that your tsop could be corrupt. I would download a tsop from the files section, and use GenDT08-SK to create a married keyset. Then take that tsop and make a virgin eeprom, and flash that new eeprom and tsop to your ird. That's the only way to know with a 100% certainty whether or not the ird is bad.
