Ok i bought serveral atmega's and received them this week. I had time today so i went ahead and programed them.

1 and only 1 of the bunch doesn't seem to work. I prorgramed it several times, erased it a lot of times and even used files to virginize and erase the eeprom.
Still the card doesn't work.

Pretty much, when i go to prograrm it, it programs fine in jeepers (like the rest of the other cards that worked), but when i put it in my receiver and turn the receiver on, I get a black screen and then 2-3 sec later i get an error "Card not inserted correclty". I went and used a business card on top the atmega as i inserted it into th receiver and it still gives me the same answer.

I am not too sure if the atmega is defective, but i would like to see if i can have working by tomorow night before i call the seller to fix it since it has a warranty and 30 day return.

I've been playing with megas for about 4 yrs. now and I have never really seen one go bad other than needing to replace the xtal (after being dropped), they're a pretty durable card,

in jeepers try doing an alt chip erase 8-10 times then do an flash/eeprom erase (also in jeepers) and then chec the fuse/lock bit settings and mae sure their still correct then do a full monty,
I have one that was being real stubborn and ept getting the 019 error and I did the above and it came back to life,....

or try a different pfg - I seemed to get card not inserted correctly on some of the newest scripts - but if I go back to earlier releases - works fine? Worth a try!

Hi,
I got a couple of blue Atmegas (256, non-USB) on ebay recently and both are out of mechanical specs: they are shorter than my old black Atmega-128. They read/write perfectly in programmer but cannot be inserted fully into the receiver's slot on its front side. Just because Atmega chip does not go inside the slot
I took a fine file and widened the slot so Atmega chip goes in when I insert the card. Now the cards work on my receivers.
Perhaps you've got similar Atmegas.

no i highly doubt that it is shorter. 4/5 of them are working, jus this one is being a pain in the butt. It programs fine, erases fine, just when i insert it into the reciever it has not info and my receiver is black

I Have Had The Same Problem Many Times Before , 99% Of The Time It Was With A 18mhz X-tal That Gave Me Trouble.

I Simply Replaced The Crystal And Then It Was Good To Go, If You Have Trouble Finding One Look In A Old 2700, 2800 Ect And You Will Find One That Will Work Fine It May Be 13.5mhz 15.mhz Or 16mhz But Thats Ok.

i ended up returning it to where i bought it and recived a new one. the new owkrs fine. I appreciate everyone's help.

I 've found that dong the alternate chip erase helps a lot. I also find that jeepersdx erased atmegas that were being stubburn with me better then jeepers.

Agian, thanks to everyone for helping and inputting there 2 cents. hopefully this thread can help others that are having trouble with their atmegas.

i solved programming them trhough the pins loaderI have a stubon one too and for the life of me it would not go into programming mode. I can do an alternate erase but i am not able to do a normal erase in jeepers. You indicated you solved your problem through the pins loader, how is that done? Anyone has any insight on how I can get this to go into programming mode? By the way it is a jumperless atmega 128. Thanks for the responses.

Do the alternate chip erase a few times tooIn the past I did the alternate erase about five times and still same issue. I will try it about 10 - 20 times later today and see what happens. I will also try the jeepersDX and see how that goes too. Thanks for the help.
