A C&P of a C&P from another site:

No More SatJammin PFGs
SatJammin calling it quits.

Thanks goes out to SatJammin for all the Atmega files that he did release, and good luck to you in the future man!

Here is a C&P from a post at another forum:

It's been magic guys, but I will no longer be maintaining any PFGs.

See Ya

No kidding. No reason to hope for the atmega128 support to go away. I'm sure someone will pick it up, but no reason to wish hard times on the atmega users.....now if you want to wish bad stuff for FTA.....well, that's probably still not very cool.

Coders are rightfully proud and protective of their work, and SatJammin is no exception, but a few of them are the biggest prima donnas on the planet. I've said this before - if you release your work as freeware (which is a noble thing to do) you must be willing to accept the fact that somebody, somewhere, is gonna do a slight rework and claim it as their own. If the risk is unacceptable, then keep your work private.

SatJammin has been an asset to the Atmega testers but if you analyze his work, it's based on someone else's work....he didn't invent PFG's...nothing wrong with that, by the way....but when this "Popeye" guy comes along, modifies SatJammin's work and releases a PFG of his own with his name attached - SJ gets his feelings hurt, tells the community adios, see ya....well, with all due respect to SatJammin, if the guy is that damn thin skinned then maybe he needs to retire.

128 testing will go on; someone will take up the slack, they always have. Learn to use the Phoenix programs for now, or test with something else. You've got FTA, Enigma, Armulator, USB Atmega, plastic and emulation to fall back on, so everyone smile, all is well. :)

Thanks for the explanation Twostep. I was hoping it was something like this rather than some sort of legal action. How many times have we seen this in this hobby now? (answer: Too many)

Hey, JT...:)

I can't be certain it's NOT a legal issue, which would indeed be a bad thing...I'm basing my statement on what I've read and seen. And I don't mean to sound as if I'm slamming SatJammin either, I'm not.

His work was freeware and subject to all the plusses and minuses that go with the territory - and he knew it going in. I'd say let's thank him for his contributions and keep right on rollin'.

Almost everything in this hobby is based on the work of someone else. The Atmega128 has been around for 5+ years and it's simply amazing that it never had to be hardware modified to emulate newer cards.

The coders (like SatJammin) are not thanked enough in our community. So what if he didn't invent the PFG?? He has done DAMN WELL in keeping our TVs filled with something that most of you are unwilling to pay for (I do have a sub).

I remember when I first got into the hobby (5 years ago), these coders were treated like kings and had MUCH respect. Now, everyone EXPECTS that when their cards or gizmos go down, that they have a God-given RIGHT to receive support from someone.

As sites go away and the coders "retire", there will be fewer and fewer people that will take up the challenge of producing freeware for the masses. Only then will the coders get the respect they so richly deserve!

Well said for sure....when it comes to non-FTA testing. Now days people buy an FTA expecting support for it that will let them watch charlie and bev. That mentality is getting to be the norm in all facets of this game unfortunately. Even with FTA all you get to demand is that the box be used what it was designed for.

jocko, i dont quit understand what you mean. you have something against the 128?

jocko50

Don't have anything against the 128 or "Satjammin" its just that i cannot stand it when someone rename's a PFG because they changed something like a tier date or whatever and they want to be a Hero. Everyone Enjoys this PUBLIC support and will be missed, so its time to start testing something else besides Jeepers. People were whinning when they couldn't get Wicked to work for them and then they had it handed to them on a platter again! (Jeepers PFG)Kinda like what Most FTA users expect.
