I'm using a 5 yr old black Atmega128 with an 18 mHz crystal, and a blue one that looks exactly like the blue one, but it's an Atmega 256 with a 24 mHz crystal. Both of them work flawlessly, all using private info, they work better than my Enigma; Armulator; Rom 102 or emu, at this time.

I think it may be the programming. I use Phoenix 1.1.6, and you have to virginize to get your fuse bits right. The 128 I have to reset to factory default, then virginize and then run the wizard.

Phoenix 1.1.6a, 4 x Atmega128, 2 x 3100,010, 2 x 2700. All flawless with all channels since 1st programming. Proplock1 is right about the alt chip erase as well. I do that 3 times and then use Phoenix Virginize when changing program versions. Had only one failure and that was with 1.1.5. It was fixed with new release.

I did all the erasing and virginizing i think the new code works better on some atmegas than others.

What kind of atmega what Mhz?

Fatboy:

Look At the Crystal n the Atmega, The Mhz Should Be Stamped Or Marked Somehow... Program With The Matching Mhz...Or You Take The Chance Of Frying the Crystal...

if you bought that Red one off FleaBay I have several from them. A couple have locked up, but I managed to Jumper them and bring them back in jeepers. I have had no luck on a couple black ones doing the jumper to revive. Also the red comes with a shit programmer. Use it for a paper weight.

Here is a Pic of my JUMPER MOD (http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4417/atmegafixmv3.jpg) for the red cards.

Open Jeepers with jumper connected (you can just use 2 wires, and no pin header).
Do Alt-Erase 3x > Erase 3x > Virginize in Phoenix Loader.
Remove Jumper and try programming in Phoenix normally.
Red cards are 18.432mhz.

I'm using 2 jumpered 18.432's, 1 jumpered 18.000 and 1 18.000 10 pin. The 10 pin has been brought back from the Brink of Death a couple of times with the use of a paper clip.........lol
