Thanks! But how to solve the request to install the stupid "smartsound quick traks plug in" that occurs every time one runs the Wizard?

Thanks

I downloaded the newest Pheonix loader from the file section and when I try to open it I get a driver is not installed error and it fails to enter program mode because it can't detect my card. Jeepers detects my card fine can any one explain as pheonix didn't have instructions.

Thanks

Theres a package with all the files you need to have installed in order to have phoenix work. Im not sure if thay have it here. If not just do a search on yahoo for "DLL[1].OCX". and it should come up. There are 2 .zip files.

I tried this loader and everything went fine but all the channels are green except for PPV and movie channels (HBO,MAX,STARZ, etc.). Whenever I try to go to a channel that is color green, it's saying that I need to upgrade. I was using Satjammin before and it was working ok until the channels started dropping. Thanks.

SuperManny,

You nailed it! Now ita 's time for me to get an LNB/Switch education....
I have DPP 500 dish. Someone else installed it so i am not really sure what is up there...

2 - RG6s from the dish (call them A&B) 322 IRD connected to A works fine. 301IRD connected to B only see's 119 not 110. switch cables: 322 on cable B works fine and 301 on cable A only see's 119. Looks like an issue with the 301.

I am not sure what direction to take now. I cannot find any settings in the 301's setup menus that could be a problem. I hope the IRD is not broken. I just bought it....

Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Steve

So what you're saying is that the 322 gets both birds on either cable, but no matter which cable you connect to the 301 it'll only pick up 119 bird??

That does point to a problem with the ird. When you did the check switch did it identify your LNBs and switch correctly?

Maybe someone else could give you some tips but I would suspect the problem is with the ird.

The signal problem seems to be a regular thing for 301-13s lately. I'm not sure why its happening but i've heard it's caused by a corrupted eprom. Some have fixed it by doing a memory dump. Menu, 6,3,info,left arrow, right arrow. When the memory dump screeen appears hit the tv/video button. When the non-volitile memory corrupt message pops up, unplug the receiver for 10 seconds.

Tomndel, I did do my tiers even changed the dates on the expiration of the tiers. I am using Phoenix 1.1.8 with support files. What else can I do?

You may be using one of those public keysets that won't work after a firmware upgrade. Hard to tell without any more info.

Download a copy of GenDT08-SK and make yourself a private keyset and see if that works. I bet it will. :)

I just cant seem to get past P207 .
Whenever I reset the IRD I am promted to download an update. I checked the settings and it IS set to download without promptling. When I tell it yes it goes back & forth between the "Locating Information" & Downloading messages for quite a while the returns to TV. If I turn the IRD off using the remote & leave it overnight I come back to find it just as I left it.
I tried the ment,6,3,info,left,right routine but never get the dump screen.

I am stumped. How can I get this POS to take an update?

You're using a 301.10 right? Just erase sector SA3 (flash 1) to make it update.

I used Jkeys to erase sector SA49 in the flash. Unplugged power from IRD removed Jtag. Powered IRD back up. Normal behaviour, power light came on for a moment, went back off for 20-30secondes then came back on. Now I have a black screen. Is this how it should behave if it is taking the updates?

Thanks

11-27-2007, 01:41 AM
Well I left it alone to update for almost an hour. No apparent change. Black screen.
Cycleing power of & on does nothing. I killed it..... Should I go dig a hole in the back yard now? It's too big to flush down the toilet...

I considered putting the tsop & eprom files I started with back on it but that would likely put me back where I started. What do you think?

Thanks

Steve

If it doesn't update overnite, it probably won't. That should have worked, and yes the power lite flashing is normal. So if it's still acting weird tomorrow, I would reflash the tsop and make a virgin eeprom using FlashEdit, and flash that to it. Then see if it updates or just go ahead and erase SA49 right away, but if it works without updating, I'd leave it alone.
Good Luck:)

It didn't update overnight. Tried may different steps and finally got it to update by using flashedit to make a virgin eeprom from the ORIGINAL tsop and reflashing the IRD with the original tsop and virgin eeprom and erasing SA49. Put it in the stream and left it alone for an hour. Came back and had full guide, all chanels showing, firmware at 346. Success!!

Then I hooked the jtag up to reflash with modded tsop. got to 89% and errored out. Now I get DCU Peek error. I have checked vidmod, R79 and all connections.
can't find anything wrong......

What next?

Thanks

Steve

I have found a problem..... I am not sure if this would cause the trouble I am having but I know it is NOT good.....

It looks like I may have lifted the trace on the PCB that the wire for the vidmod connects to "the spot". Given that this is not connected when I run Jkeys I don't see a direct connection between the damaged trace and the DCU Peek error.

Any input????

Thanks

SteveThat could do it, I would think, it's really hard to say. Can you bridge the damaged trace withsmall guage wire?

Also make sure it's grounded good, that can cause DCU Peek error.

I verified the ground, vidmod & checked all jtag connections with an ohmmeter.
It was while checking the voltage on the vidmod that I noticed the lifted trace.

When I installed the vidmod I soldered short lengths of #24 solid wire to each end , cut the trace and used jumpers to switch between 3.3v & 12v to the tsop.
The 3.3v source location is at a location where the trace terminates in a through-hole that appears to feed another layer or the other side of the board.

Unless I can come up with a better plan I am going to try removing any sloder from the hole, inserting a small wire & soldering it in place then laying it over to reach the lifted trace.

Unfortunately I cannot see the traces like I could 20 years ago. When did they star making everything so small & blurry?

That sounds like your best shot. If you like the 301s you might wanna keep an eye on Flebay for a 301.010. They're much easier to program I think. No vidmod needed. I've seen them go for $10-15 without a card, or with an S0 card.

you lifted the trace or lifted AND severed it? if its just lifted then you can use superglue to put it back down, back almost need a magnifying lamp or microscope.

If you lifted one of the round dots that you solder to for the vidmod, those are just test points, you might be able to trace out to somewhere else and connect.

Erase Card 3x
Alternate erase in jEEpers
Open Phoenix
Viginize Card
Run Wizard.

Check FUSES.
Try different FUSE settings.

128 @ 18.432mhz (18.00mhz)
FF AF 89 FF
FF AE 89 FF
FF A1 89 FF

256 @ 24mhz
FF EF 99 FF
FF E6 99 FF
FF E7 99 FF

Check that the 102bn File you are using is correct.

Write the card (go through Wizard) 2x before putting in receiver (This worked for me)
Check via CTRL-ALT-DEL (task manager) that multiple instances of AtmegaLoader.exe aren't running.

Reboot PC before you try programing again.

Clean Contacts with Alcohol or eraser.
