Not without a 10-foot, non-mesh dish, you won't.

I've read of people who are getting Bev in Miami with a 30/33 inch dish. In fact, even in California people are getting Bev with a 30/33 inch dish.
Can anyone else confirm?

I'm in southwest florida getting bev with a 18" dish, some transponders don't come in but all the football and porn do.

ok this should clear up everything for BEV in the most southern points of the western US as of Dec.2007: I would image Miami is the same)
officially they must have launched that new Nimiq bird they talked about, a few months ago (April I think it was?) because signal strength increased dramatically across all of the trasnponders on both 91 and 82 birds...especially the 91 bird...and BEV still doen not use SPOTBEAMERS.
so in SoCal (i.e San Diego for example) a 33" antenna will get now about 95% of all the available channels on 82+91 birds.
we now get ALL of the NFLST channels (except 1 of the 11 channels some reason is still too weak) and all come in fine with their 6 HD-NFLST channels and we even get almost all of those pesky locals once again from Seattle and Boston in High Def too off of the 82 bird...that's right full NETWORKs from two(2) cities in HD-MPEG2...so model 6000's are very useful here!
and we get ALL of the PPV and porn from 91 bird once again...we lost these channels for about 3 years, but recently got them back a few months ago after that new NIMIQ launch.
get yourself a 33" antenna and you will get 95% of all the BEV channels from both 82+91 on a single antenna (but its a bitch to align)....I understand people in LA are using Dish-500's once again if you don't need the 82 bird...but you can easily use now two(2) Dish-500's with a ZERO skew setting and point one at 82 and the other at 91 and join them with a Legacy SW-21 switch....this is a cheaper way than investing in a single 33" antenna and these huge antennas are much harder to calculate a proper skew setting.
and San Diego is as far south as you can get on the west coast and everything is working fine in this area with 33" antennas or two(2) Dish-500's joined via SW-21 switches.
tested this on a model 6000 BTW flashed with BEV on a 33" antenna and captured both 82+91 with 95% of the channels on a single antenna.
the weakest TP's were from the 82 bird whoich is lower in the horizon and still much weaker than 91 bird....but the 82 bird's TP's are now in the mid 60's in signal strength...last April many of them off of 82 bird were ZERO
BEV and SoCal is a good thing once again for NFLST, PPV and porn and MPEG2 HD channels from Boston and Seattle...so you get many NFL games from just those two cities alone. and many more games from the canadiuan locals in the 200 range...this is an excellent poor man's NFLST.
also that new NFL network channel is working and shows their games in HD on channels 850 or 851 and they work too just fine..
the only HD channel that does NOT come in is channel 849 and ABC from Seattle...but we get 35 of the 40 available HD channels...this far south.
other than these few HD channels everythign else on BEV is working for you NFL fans in Socal...and the 91 bird is working perfectly this far south too, with the exception of just a few TP's still being too weak...
other than that its ALL GOOD!
