I've tested plastic for a while and I'd like to try emulation now.

I have a card with MAX322 and 2313. Is this what is called 2-chip card?

Where do I find flash files for the 2313? I've serached through the files section and recent posts do not have them.

Why in some posts there is a reference to EPROM flash? Is this a separate chip, or the EPROM is part of the 2313 chip?

I've also read I should be able to program 2313 with Jeepers, but I am getting 'Can't enter programming mode' error. Any hints here?

Sorry for the dumb questions, I feel a bit lost. Your help is greately apprecitated.

yes 2 -chip

atmel 2313 flashes

yes two parts to a atmel flashing
a/ program
b/ eep

cant enter program mode is normal if no .pfg file present.
no big deal
you only are using the atmel 8515 to program flash
(will do atmel 2313 fine)

i always program them both ;prog, and eep
then read to make sure it was a complete flash

erase flash/eep a few times make it virgin
then try to program.

let us know your progress.

10bar is the name of the flash file.
Can't enter programming mode = (cant read 2313) bad 2313, or your programmer and or parellel port bad. Preferances setting for most in Jeepers is LPT 0x378
link for jeepers programmer http://www.dssftp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69248

Edit
If you have a serial programmer you can use XpAtmel the flash 2313.

10C 2313 2 chip - Verified working

Is one located in the files section. Check in the Emulator section.

Part of the 2313. It has two sections in the IC a EEprom and Eprom both are
programmed with different code. Depending on the software and hardware
used to program these can be programmed seperatly or both in one shot.

I know you can use jeepers to program the 8515 AVR version of interface

I don't know about the 2313 two chip version. I usually use a old unlooper
and XPatmel to program the 2313. If you don't have a old uplooper (mine is
a old DTV unlooper) then you can build or buy a simple Atmel programmer.
Easy to build cheap to buy. Do a search on Atmel or Atmel programmer.

At a guess I would say you are trying to program the Atmel onboard the
interface board. This cannot be done. You have to remove the Atmel and
put it into some sort of programmer to program it.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask :-)

Just remember all the stupid mistakes I have made in the past. lol

Makes it easy to read bewteen the lines.

And it is confusing since you can program the 8515 onboard with jeepers
without a seperate programmer. I can see where they might think
the 2313 is the same using jeepers.

Gents, thank you for your help. I was able to program the 2313 chip and I've got TV! I am using Linux Bootable Floppy Auxshare+ST19XL.

My interface card has both parallel and serial connectors, so I didn't have to remove the chip. My biggest challenge was to figure out that I have to create bootable disk in order to do the programming. I would've expected to use something like PonyProg for the job. Another issue was that the 2313 is not the default chip for the programmer and you have to drill down the menu to select it. Non of the tutorials I've seen have any reference to these details.

Anyway, I now have to solve the problem with premium channels showing no picture and only sound ...

Thanks, it looks like updating it right now won't make any difference, so I'll stick to the old version.

bud02, I am a bit hessitant to use the plastic right now, but it is not a big deal. I can live without TV just fine, there are so many other things to do in this f* world ...
