Hello,

I need some help configuring a null modem cable for use with Auxshare. I would like to make my own using Cat5e/ Rj45 cable, and modular RJ45 to DB9 connectors. The cat5 cable has 8 conducters. Does auxshare need DCD,(Data Carrier Detect), Pin 1 to pin 6? Also, do I need to connect Pin 9 to Pin 9?

Will the configuration in this image work? It has no DCD connection, and does not use pin 9.

Thanks in advance,

Scoob

Here's a null cable wiring diagram that should work

I saw that one when I did a google serach. My understanding is that some applications require more connections than others.

When the cables and adapters that I have on order arrive, I suppose I will wind up answering my own question by trial and error. Just thought someone here might know.

Scooby,

I have made my own as well - back when I first started coding auxshare, if my memory is good you need:

Tx -> Rx
Rx -> Tx
RTS -> CTS
CTS -> RTS
GND -> GND

Thats all that should be needed.

Thank you sLaShEr,

I went ahead and configured them with full hand-shaking as in the image in my first post. I then went ahead and added DCD by connecting both pin one's to pin six.

I played with it a bit the other day, but was unable to get it going. I'm just trying to get it running with one client, and then when its working ok, then add another client. In dos, I start auxshare, then start up st19. St19 sees the auxcard and boots up ok, but the 106 keys are not rollin. Getting error messages in Auxshare. Found out I was using an older version. When I get a chance, I'll give auxshare 1.2 a try and post back.

Thanks for the help,
