Atmega 256 USB How 2 Question ! [Archive]

Hello Folks:

I Am thinking of buying a AT256 USB, But My Knowlage Is Limited To The 128 And FTA...I Have Not Seen Any Good (How To Posts) About The 256 USB Yet... Like, Do I Need To Flash My 301, Do I Need Box Keys And IRD #, Can I Just Use It An The NO RSA Flashed And VID Modded 301. Can I Just Jtag 301 Get Box Keys, And Get # Off Card, Program Card And Watch TV....I Have 2 Looped 102's Want To Something Safer Till I Get Some More Cards...And I Just Ordered One!

If you have your private bin for the IRD then you don't need to do anything.
You can use your private bin to program USB_Atmega256.
There is no "How to" because the instructions are very simple and included with the program.
Just download "USBAtmegaVersion3.x.zip" (the newest) and unzip.
Install driver for the card (USB2.0 Drivers\USB2.0 - Windows.exe) and you are ready to go.

Extremely easy!

What kind of programmer do you use. Got the usb 256 card coming
with the usb mini plug. Can i use the 128 programmer or do i have to get
a different kind of one? Like a usb programmer. tks for any help!!

You use a 5 pin mini USB cable to program your USB atmega256. That's it.

Fab5 says he got the ECM figured. He is coding the software for the USB Atmega256 cards now.

I didn't get a USB cable with my cards!:p But yeah, all you need is a basic 5 pin mini USB cable, no matter where you get it. The software does the rest.

Does the USB atmega work better with certain receivers than others? I have a 2700, 3900 a couple 301's to choose from.

I have a DN 721. I'm interested in the usb atmega256. I haven't found a private bin for the 721. Can a JTag adapter be used on the 721.

All channels on both dish and bev are up with 3.02
They work fine with all receivers that use a card slot even with 811s if you hard wire the slot. The new software or them is out and is working. Download the new file and look at it, it has instructiuons in it too.

Thank you for the reply! I did days of readng and finally found out why ($%&$&). Sounds like the issue is getting to the BN. A JTAG can't be used on the 721 and based on the SW version of the 721 the BN can't be displayed. The 721 is basicly a linux box which I know really well. I'm a EE and SW developer. I need to find details on the box that may not exist.

Mili I sent you an email but I respect the fact that you may be busy so I;ll ask in the forum...

Will the usb mega work in a 6100 for BEV card-slot modified. If yes then I imagine it uses all the keys?

Can I order one without giving all my personal info? I like anonymity... and where are they shipped from? I;m in Canada and don't want to expect any customs issues.....

sorry to ask mili, the usb atmega is working w any reciver but you need to vid mod and j tag the reciver or not?
i'm new in the cards game but i have 3 years on the fta
ihave 2 301-13 box and 0ne 510 can i use those w the atmega?

If you have an image of the card that goes with the receiver, you do not need to vid mod the IRD. If you need to get the tsop off the IRD, you will need to vid mod and then JTAG to get the info.
As of rthe 301.013's I don't mess with them much, but most of the ones I have seen have required the vid mod to JTAG them.
