Please read the press release of today, attached hereto.
When I was in Vienna on September 30, 2007, I had the good fortune to
meet some people from Cafe Critique, who in association with some
other groups including Scholars for Peace in the Middle East,
organized a rally at St. Stephan's Platz against the Iranian regime
and their imperialist and nuclear ambitions. In particular, the
protest was primarily focused on the impending deal between OMV, the
state-owned energy company and the mullahs' regime.
These are the only leftists (in association with the Iranian leftists
and in particular, the Green Party of Iran) in this quadrant of the
galaxy, whom seem to recognize the ugly face of fascism.
The recent NEI report on Iran, which is quickly falling apart and has
been exposed as a highly political act by ten State Department
employees to affect the election and embarrass the American
administration. It was based on a statement of a single Iranian
defector and fails to address issues subsequent to 2003. It is being
highly criticized in intelligence circles.
Do not be fooled. This is much bigger than the American
administration. There are many of us that do not like the current
administration but it is important to recognize the larger issues and
in particular the silence and betrayal of the left on this fascist
regime that has murdered, according to Iranian dissidents, 150,000 -
200,000 political prisoners. It is the worst human rights offender
on the planet, there are public executions of men, women and
teenagers daily; its prisons, where torture is common place are
filled with thousands.
I have had the opportunity to speak with Iranians, opposition
people, and ordinary citizens alike who have told me directly of
frightening stories of this regime.
If you want to avoid war, then help prosecute the bankers war and add
your voice and action to bringing this regime down, for the sake of
its people and the rest of the world.
The people at cafe critique are bravely advocating this in an
environment that is not as safe and comfortable as here in North
America. When I attended that rally, they were ready for trouble
from the fascists, and there was a real sense of danger in that crowd.
The economic fight in Germany and Austria is critical, as without the
economic support of their governments and businesses, the Iranian
mullahnazi regime cannot be sustained.
