C/P:
Hard To Believe
It's been 1 year since the dawn of the map3b completion and to my surprise we've had a pretty good year run. Funny thing is most ppl say how time flies, but in my reality, it seems like its been forever.
SO, where does this leave us? Without faithfull emulation of the st19xl core, weekly if not daily coding has to be done in order to hopefully last another week or day. The dynamic and hardware specific targeting is just not practical with existing code. Faithfull emulation running even at 24Mhz is not gonna happen. I know this, as I have it coded. Its just way to slow. Semi-faithfull emulation is pausable, but that is what we been doing since the birth of this card.
I have enjoyed myself for most of the last year and everything we contributed to this hobby and to the community. I think we have been honest and up-front 99.9% of the time, and we were able to squeeze another year out of already dead devices sitting in drawers. Not to bad if I say so myself.
Hard telling what lies ahead, but I can assure you that if its possible, it will happen. Your just gonna need to find that 1 person that is willing to give up their family and friends and sit in front of a pc screen watching large numbers pan out and hope things don't change in the middle of trying to see if it works or not.
I wish each and everyone of you here, and your families a happy and safe holiday, and may all your wishes come true.

Sounds like this is the end of the Amtega 128/256 support. Damn. You could read what you want into it, but it really looks like its done. You had to be impressed that it made it as long as it did.

never say never in this hobby.
Atmegas will live again, but their lifespan will be of that when the streams being updated and everythings pulled.
Time to move on to bigger and better things I do believe.

I still think the Atmega128 has a future in this hobby. I gave up on it once (a long time ago) and it has consistanly suprised me!
My hat is off to EFA and their outstanding reverse engineering marvel that has stood the test of time!

No, some of them are WORSE....French Democrats!
How many years day's hell threads have gone by. How many people have said ATMEGAS are dead. Even after the 256 came out. F*ck I'd be a Billion air by know. It's like the thread Say's as long as someone enjoys coding. and the numbers grow every day, then I believe ATMEGAS will continue!
Thanks!:D

This post wasn't to say the Atmega128/256 were dead, just to pass info that put to rest the "Where is the WiCKED / Phoenix team to fix this..?" posts.
Atmega still has life. Quite a few peeps now have code presented to them, and are working feverishly, and in multiple teams, to get the little card that could going.
The new release is ONLY for Atmega256 (legacy) @24mhz on PuBLIC #'s.
Limited yes, but gives promise to future releases.
Also there are others with the project of upgrading (and making these upgrades publicly available) the hardware on the 128/256. So no one is saying it's "DEAD".
Not sure what French have to do with anything, maybe some need to study wwII history and not watch FaUX News so much.

Right now at this very moment.. The USB ATmega256 can't be beat. If you liek the adventure and not looking for plug-n-play free TV then the Legacy Atmega128/256's are good little cards.
The enigma I seriously question how much longer it will be here. It has problems. (support and com w/Dev are BIG issue.)

Ok first of all fellas - no one is name calling here - sheesh - the point of the orginal post was "where is the support" type posts we see all over.
Free Tv'er or not - every one of us is here to TEST and LEARN - and perhaps watch a little TV.
No one gives a rat's petutie how long any of us been around - that becomes important when you say someone like Milli - now there is a guy (love em or hate em) who has been around a very long time and deals in hardware and support. Then it is important that he have a repuatation we can rely on. I do not recall any of the names in this post - so really.....who has been here the longest is sort of mute point. Post counts do not mean crapola = it is the content of the post that should matter.
It gets me that we are so quick to slam each other on these boards for reasons only we ourselves understand.
Worse yet - its that time of year when some (not all) believe in the spirit of Xmas - and here you are calling another member names - and over what? His opinion?
Shame shame shame.

.......poor guy must have spent ton's of money on 128's and is start'n to lose it now ppv/porn is gone, just remember, they make better ice-scrapers than rom 2, rom 3 and rom 10 cards did , and itz the right time of year to use them now! :D

Anyone wanna start a project to use the atmega as an access card on your computer??
Just think! Man these things would be versitile. ONE DEVICE could get your sports update in the morning off your IRD, check your emails on your computer, and even triple as an ice scraper for those cold TVless mornings!
lol. but seriously tho.. I don't really like scraping ice so what else can I do with this thing in the mean time :(
least the DVB groups are making good headway on the bev situation.. need that to more right now than manipulating code to bring an old platform working.. If theres a will, theres a way. hopefully the way is able on this device's design still..

'I'm still using my rom 10 all those cards are still working."
Damm, I have a rom 10 sitting here for 3 years.
I had glitched it, but I think I needed the password that bell uses
to get into it.
Time to dust it off and try to program it I guess.
The old atmega 128 just ain't cuttin it no more.

You are gonna get the same channels on the rom10 as atmega 128 if you go to
channel 5900 you will get ppv on atmega128 I'm still using Phoenix 1.1.6a to program 128
