Your own bin with your own tiers may be the culprit. These things are really bin-picky. First, you need to use version 3.03 and not 3.02, and to help get you up and running, do this....

Take a copy of your private bin, run it through a tiermaker program and erase ALL tiers, PPV too. Add the tiers back using a program such as DarkAngel, DChat or the EnigmaEdit tier editor (my choice). MR Tierworks and DT Tierworks-generated tiers absolutely will NOT work.

Before writing your 256, type in the current keys in the two boxes. You'll need to space them in pairs, just like the default "FF" is spaced. Putting them in your bin won't do the trick. You have to put them in these boxes, or else wait for the keys to roll which sometimes takes 30-45 minutes (first time after programming)
The card will keep up with the key rolls after that.

Found twostep's reply a bit disturbing as that was what I had planned to do when I received my usb 256's - just use Mr T-works and fill up my pvt bin - oh well, guess I'll have to look into those pgms mentioned in reply. A definite no-go the other way, huh? Not at all what I expected.

I beg to disgree, I use the latest Mr.Tierworks with my USBAtmegas and they work perfect with it. Black screen can be old keys, incorrect IRD# in teh bin or bad load. Hard reboot the recievr and also reprogram the card.

Romripper and enigmaedit seem to work a lot better for working with tiers on the USB atmega256 eeprom.bin in my experience. Try those programs.

Just got mine today. Thanks Mili. I had the black screen as well until I manually updated the keys, then all was well, almost. I am having some minor issues with my tiers. I'm using a bin for my 102s that i cleaned the codespace, cleared the tiers and then used Mr. Tierworks to update the bin file. Not a big deal, I'll figure it out.

I am experiencing freezing! I am running version 3.02 on Dish, so I don't know if 3.03 will fix it cause it specifies it corrects BEV freezing only, but I'll give it a try as soon as I can download the file at off peak hours.

OK, loaded the 3.03 file up and still have freezing issues only on channels with the new 106 keys, anything below channel 300 has no freezing. I did correct the tier issue by downloading the EnigmaEdit 7.5a program and writing the tiers to the Dish Public bin file that came with the program. Not as nice to use as Mr. Tierworks, but I just couldn't get that program to update the bin file. I kept getting a "Error, Tried to Write Tiers Past End of File" error.

So, all in all the USB Atmega works OK for now except the freezing issue and time it takes to tune in channels varies from 5 to 15 seconds.

A correction is in order.

I sometimes confuse the Enigma and the USB Atmega, as I use the same bin for both devices. DT Tierworks and the earlier versions of MR Tierworks will not work properly on the Enigma card. Later versions of MR Tierworks may indeed work on the 256 with no problems.

My apologies if I posted in error. :)
