I'm using ST19 without aux card. I want to use Aux card and have an iso reader/writer and a computer with 2 com ports. What do I flash on to an open rom102 card? I don't have a max mel board but do use an AVR with non aux'd emu. Is that ok?
Am I missing anything else?

ok find peky's aux version 1.23
clean your card
then write perky's aux to it ( comes in bn102 format.)
jam that puppy in your iso reader
If your computer has to com ports,(named com1 and com2 in device manager) then plug your emu into com 1 and iso into com 2
then you will want to run st19xl.exe /m /a /pe1 /pa2

Once I write Perky's bn102 to my card and put it in my ISO reader for ST19 emu, do I need to add power to the ISO too? If so is it 9v, same as reading /writing to the card?

yes you must add power to ISO .. hook ISO with auxed card inside to com2
put emu board on com1 .. its that easy
6-12 volt power supply will work fine

I need some clarification on what the aux card is for. I understand or thought I understood that the aux card is not subject to any writing by the stream. In other words, it's not in any danger, so no blocker is involved. Yet you're saying it gets updates to its perkys123 bin. Or did you mean the cor file on the floppy gets updates and you can save the modified cor directly in the st19 program?
(I'm just about to try my emu w/ aux for the first time as soon as I finish with patching the cor (which is NOT written to the card).)
P.S. Is there a proper shutdown sequence for the emu/IRD/computer say when you go to bed?
Thanks.

I have been running PGM's emu's since the H card days and I can assure you that I have never heard of an aux card getting hit. Think of the aux card as a translator and it will periodically be asked to decypher a phrase. As for shutting down your Emu at night the best bet is to save the Cor file first so that any updates in the cor file in memory are written to the Cor on the disk. But if you want my opinion..... shut off your IRD and leave the Emu PC running 24/7.

THank you kindly for the quick response, gunny.
One question: When you said save the cor in memory, it brought another thought to mind re loading/using ramdrive for st19. I have read that you shouldn't, but with no reason attached. I've seen a boot disk/ramdrive maker in files section. Do you use ramdrive for greater mem/speed?

IMHO.....The ramdrive might reduce the amount of physical RAM available for programs, possibly causing virtual RAM to be required. If this happens, using a ramdrive could actually slow you down. But sometimes you can't beat trial and error testing on your own to be sure.

I wrote Perky's 1.23 file to a cleaned Rom 103 card. When I tried to read the card after the write it says backdoor may be locked...Any idea what I need to do to read it? Is there a password?
By the way....The ST19 program found the Aux card so I know the write was ok, and I get video.
Any idea on the backdoor being locked using the Perky's 1.23?

You can't read it.....you can clean it.....there is no backdoor and the card is not locked I wrote Perky's 1.23 file to a cleaned Rom 103 card. When I tried to read the card after the write it says backdoor may be locked...Any idea what I need to do to read it? Is there a password?
