View Full Version : BEV MECM taking emulators out again.
Preliminary indicators hint at MAP57. If they time it we are fucked. If not then there will be a fix.

well, in theory, if they did it right, anything not writeable would be smuckered. Take for an example that they told the ird to check keys once every ten minutes, and if matching, let video play till next check sequence. OK. Lets say they rolled keys every ten minutes, so everytime the ird does the check sequence, it was new keys it was checking for. Without knowing the keys in advance and programming it to your testing device (atmega, fta, st19, etc), only thing able to get video is something that can write new keys to itself. You would write current keys to the card or bin or fta receiver, but the ird would only start showing video the next time it was timed to check keys, and by then the keys would have changed again. With the ird handling some of the emm process, u will eliminate most testing devices out there. The only thing left would be plastic, and st19 if they could get it to emulate an ird to process the ird emms. The day charlie gets his shit together and is able to allow quicker timing and ird emm handling faster, u better start worrying if you dont have plastic with rolling capabilities with a damn good blocker.

running map 57 and timing it are two totaly separate things. yes, the algorithm is known. but trying to time it with dynamic inputs in time to get the correct answer to allow video will be a challenge for any emu. if indeed they are timing 57, i'd love to hear fab5's input.

They are indeed timing MAP57 this is a real goatfuck. It will take time to fix it.
BEV and Dish both using the same MECM, all emulators including your fucking Viewsats and coolsats are down. Only REAL ROM102 CARD present systems are working.

Here is what Fab5 had to say about this
Battle of the Bulge?
Well, this is it folks. I am calling it the Battle of the Bulge. This is the final desperate push by Nagra to defeat all hardware emulators. The stakes could not be higher: if they win, no single stand-alone hardware emulator is coming back. If they lose, they have nothing else to throw at us, at least nothing harder than this.
Their tactic is the (expected) timer hash of Map0x57. Map0x57, as most coders know is a convoluted implementation of elliptic curve multiplication (ECC). Timing a standard ECC function is hard enough, but timing a proprietary one is much, much harder - if not impossible.
My plan is to counter this attack with my favourite weapon of choice: statistics. It worked well for us last time, lets hope it works out this time too.
For those who are culturally deprived, the Battle of the Bulge was the last desperate offensive by the Germans, prepared with skill and secrecy, to capture the key strategic city of Bastogne around Christmas of 1944. Greatly outnumbered and outflanked, the allies held the city and the men who survived came to be known as the "Battered Bastards of Bastogne".
Lets see what the battered, bastard coders can do this time around...wish me luck!

Looks like things are not as bleak as first thought. This is a quote from mfong, one of the emunation coders (DVB):
They really screwed up with this MECM and it's easily worked around (I've already got a working dirty solution). If it were to be done the elegant way, it'd probably be really difficult.

Luckily, a friend at work deals with this so bought 3 Rom102/IRD's and bought RC ( I dont mind updating the card everyday with new bin ), the game requires patience and kudos to folks who can decipher this info and let us know

Are you going to mind updating your keys every ten minutes?
ST19 and Aux card have worked flawlessly for me for a year now. Never a problem and PGM is almost always first with a fix and usually one that lasts more than a week!
Last night when I turned on the TV and noticed black screen, PGM had already released a fix. Got my DN back in the time it took me to replace a file on a floppy. And I didn't have to wait for the keys to roll because the current ones were saved to floppy before I shut down ST.
PGM THANK YOU
My bet is that non-carded fixes if they work at all, will be down more than up.
Fab5 is right about this being a last stand. DN will start to lose programing as HBO, PPV etc decide that they have been 'tested' for too long. If FTA and ATmegas survive this this round and stay up for more than a week or two without new fixes, expect a major card swap.
And where is the overdue and anticipated ECM plastic loop. Only after they have finished messing up cardless testing. Mili's post about Herding the diehards to AR plastic is correct. Give the die-hards some time to get them back on plastic, roll keys like 90 and make AR the only viable script. SuperBowl is only 5 weeks away. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Unmelted plastic is going to see a jump in prices.

While that itself is great that you are getting fast fixes, its not considered flawlessly. Some of the private plastic testers have stated that they havent had to load a card except for 3 month tier expirys. Thats flawless.....

you mean in the last three months, there have been scripts that have updated from 10b to 10c by themselves? Wow, did Nostradamus write the script?
Or it was blockerless (like no script almost a valid sub), and took the updates and still had a back door?
I'm not a coder, just a electronics tech. Tell me more.
As far as I have heard every rev update, has required a new fix for all testing methods.

102 never saw the hit!
Well, I crunched the numbers and......it will work!
The same old statistical method came through. This time it was a lot harder because of an extra variable and the fact that there is no room for error on the timer register. It must be exact.

According to the above post it should be fixed soon. If it indeed happens before anyone else is up demand will be great again and there will be delays filling it.

I'm not even sure if this can be done. I have head of people taking an updated cam, adding long expiery tiers, and with out adding a backdoor, load this on the card. Basically recreating a valid kinda sub. Of course, getting back into the card once the tiers and PPV expier, would not be very easy....
rwithclass: lots of info out there on st19 basically an emulator that also uses a 102 or 103 card that has an AUX script.
Same hardware as Cemu just add ISO with card.

There are a few scripts that let you run with a blocker that auto rolls the keys, but it allows an easy way for the provider to ECM the card.
There are methods for setting expiry dates way out and letting the card stream update. you are unable to change anything on the card after the stream update. In therory it acts as a sub till the expry date is reached and there are no constant card pulls for updating manually.
This method is not recommended unless you don't care to take a chance on toasting a card.

But isn't there a way to run without blocker but spoof the card at 10c so that it doesn't update because it thinks it's already at the latest rev? Sure, it wouldn't work if 10d gets pushed out, but I always thought that the stream loggers could determine that a new REV was being spooled well before it is actually implemented; that would give one time to pull the card and re-spoof it.

Glad to see you got it going newguy, have 2 myself set up and am enjoying not having to run to the iso all the time or send back and forth through the mail. For the cost of a cam, ($90.00 right now, unlocked) it is well worth it for tv for a year or so. Also the cams won't be looped but will be streamlocked and unlockable someday. ( I hope )
And as you said, do not try unless you have cams to toast.
Good luck newguy
