View Full Version : usb256 and private
I'm waiting patiently for my usbatmega256's to show up. (ordered 7 or 8 days ago) While I'm waiting I started to look for files needed to get this thing to run. Got all the files, I think but have not ran across a good how to for private bins. Can some one tell me or even just point me to a how to. I have no problem reading but just haven't found one. I might understand it more once my cards show up and I can actually try it but as far as reading haven't really seen anything. Thanks

I suspect that you will be patiently waiting for your Atmegs 256 for a lot longer. I have been waiting for mine for almost a month now and still no Atmega. Mili was kind enough to follow up on my behalf and even provided a tracking number...but still no Atmega. How many others are experiencing thiese extended delays.. I wonder?????
you need romripper
usbatmega256 (LATEST VERSION) software
darkangel tiergen or mrtierworks
and read this for starters

mili isnt 9 miles from canada border..... that comparison only works for someone in the same distance range. mili is offshore, meaning out of the us and canada, so expect a lil more than 3 days...... do a couple international shippings and then you will see what i mean.....
Well I did get my usb atmega256's on sat. but am having trouble to getting them to work. Heres what I did. I opened DarkTierGen selected my tiers and tier dates and ppv's. hit patch tiers. Now I have patched them to my private bin and a enimga bin and alls I get its smart card is not inserted correctly. I've tried it with both the little boxes in the right corner checked and unchecked. I tried using enimga bin and editing in my private info. I've tried a business card with the 256 card I've even tried it upside down. Alls I get is card not inserted corretly. Am I missing something?
I should add that I can get it running with Phoenix Atmega Loader v1.2 and my private 102.

This is what I have done to get my private info working with the bins provided with the USB software, This is a C &P , I don't have the link.
How To Add Private# To My Aio Bin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
folks keep askin me how to use my AIO with private numbers. mods please make this post a stiky.....
ok heres what to do:
Open GenDT_08SK
Press card information
Press Rom 102 radio button
Open your bin with private info
Press Save Keys button (Remember where you save it)
Press Rom 102 radio button
Open the AIO bin(Bin from USB soft)
Press Load Keys (Loads the keys you saved in the above step)
Save your AIO bin now has your private info
open bin you just saved, write to card
as far as your as you SCNIC error is concerned, after you have written to your card, try to read back the ird info, does it read back OK, I'm sure you have tried this already. to prove if all you hardware is OK, I would program your usbatmega with the public info on a public ird. If that works, then try my method. By the way, thanks goes to DVD for the above C&P, not my work.
Good luck

You may want to seriously consider using public numbers with the USB atmega.
It just doesn't work well with private info
I've tried it on 4 different setups that work great with Rom 102, Atmega 128, Atmega 256 Parallel, Armulator, and pretty good with Enigma.
Not one of these private setups will work with the USB Atmega.
Hell I even tried Fubr's method; My advice is make it easy on yourself and go public.
(Man that feels strange.... I've never advised anyone to use public info... :) )

thanks for giving me a hand.
so if I do that and then use that bin to patch my tiers to, do I need to edit the bk keys and ird in dark angel as well? Do you still need to check both of them little box in the bottom righ corner of dark angel? The ones that say write ird info and write other settings
I took all 3 of my usb atmega's and hit detect avr, erase avr and program and all I get is smart card is not inserted correctly. I tried this with no tiers just to see if it would recognize the card with no luck. Should this work? I know I won't get any tv or anything I just wanted to see if it would recognize the card.

Just a thought. But when I first got my 256, I had to program the card about 8 times before all of the code finally wrote to the AVR for some reason. What I noticed is when I first programed the card and read the MECM 40 or 60 code I would get a lot of fffff's in the code space. The more I programmed the card, the less the fffff's appeared, until there was none and the card finally worked.
I cant help you much on the private info for dish, but I have mine working perfectly on a 5100 with private for beverly.
I have a 6000 on public and a 3700 & 5100 on private. All with dish and all give me the same results. atmega 128's run fine

thats all I get is fffff's no matter how many times I program it. I have my 6000 running public keys. I thought I would start with that because it is suppose to be easier then running private.

just wondering...are you writing a Bin to the card? writing the avr and writing the bin eeprom are 2 diffrent things...by the way i also have been trying to use private info....just gets blck screen ...the only way i can get this card to work is to jtag it with public #s
I am now using public numbers. I will write exactly what I have did and I'll see if someone can tell mewhat I'm doing wrong.
open dark angel, go to bottom right corner and where it says 3m presents choose dish 3m. check write ird info and check write other settings. go through and choose all the tiers I want. click expire date and select Feb. 29th , set ppv tiers by reset ppv tiers then generate ppv tiers and save and close. put my black out sing and time zone in. box keys and all that are right. choose patch tiers and choose enimga bin 8.3 called EEPROM_Dish. it says please wait while patching and hit ok. now I get to save with a new name the bin it just created. it comes up and says card image has been patched with new tires and ppv sting. close dark angel. plug usb card into 5 pin mini usb cable. open usbatmega256version 4[1].02. choose my 6000 model. hit detect and card was detected. hit erase, I erase 2 times. hit writeavr256, avr write is complete. clicked on writebineeprom and choose the bin I created with dark anglel. both writeavr and writeeeprombin wrote 100%.
choose read keys to make sure it wrote new keys, which it did, choose read to check ird info which is right except time zone but thats all right for now. hit read dynamic code and all are fff's but I gave it a try anyways and get smart card not inserted correctly. I know the receiver is good because it runs the 128 on public.

hit read dynamic code and all are fff'sThese are downloaded from the stream. They will always be ffff until you stream it.
The way to see if it's writing properly is to read the eeprom; save it and compare that eep with the one you originally wrote, using RomRipper or N2Diff or any hex editor. You shouldn't get more than about 48 bytes difference.
here is what I got. I think I got 2 bad cards. Like I said, I bought 3 cards. All three said smart card not inserted correctly. I went back to the first card I tried and hit detect card. alls good, hit erase 5 times and then writeavr. went through all the steps and no go. second card did the same thing and that one is now working. 3rd card did same thing and nothing but card not inserted correlty. went back to first card. hit detect card and now it says usb2.0 atmega 256 not detected. 3rd card still says card not inserted correctly.
1st card = usb2.0 atmega256 not detected
2nd card = working good
3rd card = card not inserted correctly
Now what? What do I do with these other 2 cards. I paid good money for these cards. Would mili exchange them? Is there something I could try before emailing him? I tried a business card with card 3. I know for card 2 it's not drivers or 5 pin cable because I have 1 card running and I did install the drivers and I am using a 5 pin cable.

since you got one card to work all with the same bin im not sure anymore....the one time i put the card in and it said card not inserted corectly i got pissed off went outside came back in and it was working...go figure....i dont know if you know this but the ird #that is on the instructions in the atmega screen is not the right number for the bin they give you...the right ird # is:
Dish
IRD #: 01 1C 74 6C
Boxkeys: 8C A6 A8 8C FD E2 E2 63
CAM Number (hex) = 039A3174
the one that is givin in the atmega screen is 010c746c
what do you do with 1st card = usb2.0 atmega256 not detected? When I get home I'll try leaving the one that says 3rd card = card not inserted correctly
Do u think mili would exchange 2 of my cards? The one card that say smart card not inserted correctly I left in for 1 hour with no changes. Programed it may times with same results. 2nd card if I push down on the middle chip it programs fine and the worst part is it works. Gets all channels but I don't wanna have to push down on the chip everytime I wanna program it. I would think it would stop working completely sooner or later.
emailed mili and he's gonna exchange them. now thats a stand up guy. thanks mili for the promt email. thats why you buy from mili and not another site.
