I am new to testing and I am only familiar with the 128
Atmega. I am thinking about trying the 256. Do you program
it the same as the 128? Or would I need to get something
else with it. Thanks to anyone that can help.

You would need to buy a USB Atmega or wait for the fix to come out on the 128/256's

Do you understand that the USB Atmega is up and running? The legacy 128/256 Atmega's are down. Go to the top of the page and click on the USB Atmega. There are only about 3 places to buy on and this site is the site that writes the only fixes that are working for the USB.
P.S.
I don't have one because I am in another country and can't get one shipped here so I am not selling them.

I appreciate the info. Thanks.
I didn't know there was
256 & usb. I will check them out.
HUGE difference between the USB atmega256 and the legacy/lexus version. For starters, one works and has some promise for the future; the USB version. The legacy version is almost certainly dead forever.
was checking out ebay and theres an adapter there for usb programming ..im looking into atmel.com and i dont see why atmegas that are modified shouldnt work..soon as i get an adapter ill post

I program Atmel Atmega Microcontrollers. The only major difference between the Atmega 1281 and the 2561 is the amount of flash memory. I think the 128 can be revived.

Now that I think about it, someone should analyze the bins for the 256 usb and if they're not encrypted or anything and they were small enough you could probably flash them onto a 128. I think they have the same byte code...

Please do it and let us know how it turned out. If you ruin your card, you can always buy that USB Atmega that works.

If you can handle freezing every 10 minutes or so the usb 256 is the way to go

There is new software out and the freezing issues are resolved.....for now. There is a lot of timing issues now days to be over come.
