Ok I am going to ask a few question in hopes of some smart tester can help me out or can lead me in the right direction. I have two 301-10 DN receivers. In an ateempt to use the Atmeag 256 USB card I think I screw up my receiver. Here is what I did.
1st using Jkeys I tried to jtag my receiver. I "Saved" My memory to my PC. These receivers have 2 Flashes (1&2) Both were saved. I lso save a copy of my eprom.
2nd I save a copy of SE3 of flash 2 and open it with a Hex editor and change my IRD number and Box key number to the numbers provide to me. I used Jkeys and programed it back into the receiver. when I closed and reopen Jkeys it detected the New box keys and Ird number with one mistake I made (Entered a wrong letter) so I was going to do it again. Now after I reprogram that sector with the correct number. My box would not reboot. I disconnect every thing ,plug it back in and the green power light would not come on. I though it might need to stream so I hooked up the sattelite cable and let it set over night. Still no power on.
3rd. I then tried to reprogram the orginal bins. I erased Flash 1 and tried to program the first bin it reprogram ok (took a long time) Then I erased Flash 2 and tried to reprogram flash 2 orginal bin But jkeys keep showing me errors.
DID I PERMENTLEY screw up this receiver or is there a way to get the orginal bins loaded so I can get the power light to come back on and use my receiver. This was a subbed receiver and the rom card still is autorized.
Is there a way to get pass the errors or what.
Thanks

Ok I read and tried each one of these guides and follow to a tee.
Still can't get a green light. Iknow I didn't short anything.
I can Open wall and erase flash and it said Flash erase suscesfull.
I unplug the receiver and pluged it back in but no green light even for a second. I tried these guides on two 301-10 but the same results.
I can erase the flash I can program the flash and still get the same readins when ever I restart wall. It seems to be saying its writing but I don't know if its writing to the flash. Any way you can check?
I must have tried both receivers 50 times with no green light
Could I have a bad connection and I am using Vista to run wall and jkeys???
Stumped

Is there a way to see if Wall is writing to the ird?
I seem to read ok but I always get the same numbers after erasing the flash. My box keys are all FF's
I even remove my jtag and erease flash and it said flash erase sucessful??
I trird to erase flash then I read flash and open with a hex editor All F"s
I programed flash 2 60000 length, it program and i then read flash and open it with hex editor all F's
Can I have a bad solder point on the board. Seemsfunney I can't get either boxs to get green lite. Can't beleave I have 2 bad solder poimts on different boxes.

alsouth gave you the link above
supermanny did the best guides for 301 revival and such
you may have to learn the hard way
but we all have
and will need to in order to have things working constantly
being serious btw, it will come back to life .lol

oh and the light for now is not lit but in doing the appropriate steps it will

I am learning the hard way. I guess you didn't read my prior posts before you made your comments.
I am asking for help or suggestions of why These procedures in the guides arn't helping my situation.
I have tried each guide over 50 times each of 2 dead receivers with out getting the green lite.
Some of my questions were:
Is it possible that my jtag is not really communicating? How can I test?
I seam to beable to "Erase" my flashs with or with out the jtag hook up.
After I "Erase" and Program a backup file I seem to get the same INFo after I do a "READ" and open in Flash edit.( all F"s) Like I can read but not truely "Write"
What should I see if I open a bin in Flash edit for the U23 File first 60000 byths. (I currenly see all F's)
Any other thinks that may hel wake up these box,s
BTW these were really good guides you led me to.
Thanks!!!

SNOWMAN : I'll be bried cause I'm in a rush...

Green light problem : you didn't brick your receiver; guaranteed it's still good

FIX : It's your EEPROM that is corrupted or not the right build cfg; if the build cfg isn't EXACTLY as it's printed on the sticker (you can see it through the grill on your ird).

Using Flashedit, create a virgin eeprom, when saving the eeprom make sure you type in the sticker's build cfg (one letter may not match what Flashedit reports but this is perfectly ok)

Program your IRD again (and again and again if ness.). An incorrectly programmed eeprom will not allow the ird to boot (no green power light). But it is always fixable. Enjoy!

I had this problem a few times; this is the fix...

Thanks Fox29
A quick question if I might. When I use Flash edit 2.0a.2 after I load the orginal bin that I saved before all these problems I get the error: "In your own best Interest ect." Do I have to be concern or can I stii use it in advance mode.

If you get that error just switch to Advanced mode.

Your 301s are probably fine; probably just a corrupt bootloader, which happens when you lose power to the ird in between erasing and re-writing your TSOP. Like mannybeef said you can't kill them that easily.

If those procedures I posted don't work for you, either your jtag isn't making good contact, or your LPTP port on the MB isn't putting out enough voltage to get a good write.

Try a different computer, or a buffered jtag.
And don't worry about the light. All you need is a good Flash2 loaded and it'll stream Flash1.

Good Luck! :)

Thanks for all the help.
Is there any way to know if the TSOP took the program. I seem to get the same Flash read when I check the "Read" in an Hex Editer. It shows all F's.
I also Assume the green light has to atlease come on for an instant to stream Flash 1. Is this correct.
I orderd a new Buffer jtag from Milli and will try again when it comes.
I hope the one he sells is for the 301-10. I have two straight jtags, 1 for the 010 and 1 for the 013 but these don't have a power source just a straight cable about 10" long.
Funny thing is before all thiese problems I did write to both my receivers cause thats what screw everything up.
I have been using my lap top to program because my new desktop PC has no LPTP port (I use a USB printer) Is there a Usb to LPTP convert I could use??
Thanks again.
I will keep trying if the members will keep Helping LOL!!!

Hey I got it to work. Found the problem. My Jtag cable had a ground on the cable that had no pin/connector on the receiver's mother board. Soldered in a new pin and it wrote the flash like a dream.
Your instructions were all great.
Thanks a milliion!!!
