I bought a new Windows Vista operating system desktop and since I am having problem to open Phoenix Atmega Loader. The message that shows up is "Run-time error '339':
Component 'MSCOMM32.ocx' or one of its dependecies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
I copy the MSCOMM32.ocx to Windows/System but still getting the same error. Tried fixing the Rregistry with Uniblue and got the same.

If any forum members has had this problem and corrected it, please help..

The ocx file goes in the folder with all your other windows ocx. I dont use vista but do a search and see if it is in windows32 the same as xp

Rather than beat yourself up over the problem(s), just take the old drive (Win9x or XP) and install it in the new box. Go into the Bios and have it Boot from there, do what you have to do and things will work. For your regular Vista stuff change the boot sequence.

PS I have a Free Vista Upgrade but sticking with XP, until Vista SP2 & even then
not in a hurry

I have the same problem(s) with Vista. Phoenix will not enter program mode because a missing driver. The problem as far as I can tell is, when you go to load the drivers that are already included in the download for Phoenix, they do not write ot the registry correctly. Ive read that there is a jeepers (v1.3 ) that works but have not tried it yet.
On a side note. Vista also tends to make programming plastic w/ NagraEdit and N2Edit very dificult. Errors writing rom 102 are notorious. Count on seeing "unknown provider" more than once after a failed write.....

The new pfg for jeepers does work. The only downside is that you can't edit your tiers or add your locals.

try right clicking on the program and choose run as admin. It should work ok after that.

I'm not sure if vista will allow the use of the parallel port due to the new 'security features'. All of my old programs that make use of the parallel and serial port at a lower level just dont work. I think it will only work if it is written to allow vista, or the OS, to take control and handle all I/O (parallel and serial port) requests. That leaves a problem for programs that require exact timing and such. I'm not 100% on this but I've read about it in the past, and like I said, all my older programs cant make use of either the parallel nor the serial ports. Its just another one of vista's great features

Also, I think the mscommXXX drivers are used to allow the program to talk to the parallel ports through windows. They are used to please XP's need to control the I/O hardware. Vista I believe uses an entirely new routine to access and control everything, since it isn't just a patched version of XP - its an entirely rewritten OS. But again, If anyone can get it to work in Vista Please Post since it will save me some trouble too!

Vista Users and Phoenix
I could'nt find any info on how to get phoenix to run with Vista, so after gathering all the files and trial and error here is some basic instructions to help people get going.

First, those error messages that pop up, weather it be phoenix, jeepers, NagraMaster, copy down what the file is that's missing. Next goto google and type the name of the file thats missing exactly the way it appears. I've downloaded all my ocx and dll files from hxxp://www.ascentive.com

You have to download and register each file in order for the testing programs to function properly, and chances are once you install and register one file the same phoenix, or nagramaster will ask for a diffrent file. Just need some patience.

all the files need to be placed in to c:\windows\system32 but because of security you can't save or unzip directly to the c:\windows\system32 folder... so instead, save them else where. Make a directory in drive C:\ called dlls and save all your dll's there.

Now lets say your missing vbwhyperlink.ocx, goto google or the ascentive page, search for it, download and save it to c:\dlls once downloaded, goto c:\dlls right click the file, copy it, goto c:\windows\system32 paste it there, click ok to conitnue past windows security.

Next click on the start icon (the Windows logo) goto all programs, goto accessories, RIGHT CLICK CMD and hit 'Run as Administrator'. you need administrator privledges to properly register the files you install.

You'll see a black box, in the box type regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\vbwhyperlink.ocx
hit enter, a box will popup displaying the file was correctly registerd, or you may have the name wrong, this is dos.. you need to type things exact...

use that same command line to register all your files... ocx and dll's alike.
ex. regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comctl32.ocx

Having DLPORTIO issues? simply copy the Dlportio files to c:\windows\system32 make sure you are in the c:\windows\system32 directory in the black dos box, if you aren't sure your command prompt should say C:\Windows\System32> if it doesn't type cd\ to go to the root of drive cd then type cd windows\system32 to get to the system32 directory... next to load dlportio type Loaddrv install dlportio once all this is done Vista should open all your programs and allow you to continue testing.

If you guys need a better guide or feel this one is usefull let me know, i wrote this in a few minutes so it's kida slapped togeather.

considering the phoenix team are such good coders, why dont they just simply make it compatible with vista. its so much easier to just wait on satjammin to come out with his pfg and use basic jeepers.

Maybe because Vista is not a good OS, IMHO! BTW: did you update Vista with the latest SP?

new computer came with vista and I never could get pheoenix to work. I have tried your instructions here to register but I don't get the admin box. Don't know what to do to get it? I have no problems with Jeepers, so the parallel port thing isn't an issue for me. I am still getting this same error 339 etc.

I to have had the same problem... The final thing I resorted to was an older computer 800 Mghs and bought a switch.. all I do is when I need to program my 128 or use my iso for 102 card i switch from my main computer Vista to my xp... One monator... works like a charm.... I just leave both computers running all the time.....

i had problems also with vista and i think i remember c/p the files in the windows system 32 folder i read somewhere to turn offuac (user acount control) THEN do the register part of the earlier post and mine worked be sure to turn on uac later but it did work .also jeepers does work if you go in and find the i/o your parralel card needs and change it in the register edit to work with jeepers i think im using 21220 and 1.3 its been a while since i fixed it so i cant give as good directions as the guy erlier but after googeling i and search button in forums i pieced it together
