On an Atmega 128 card with the DB25 plug on programmer. Can a Atmel 256 chip be installed as a direct replacement on the old 128 card without modifying traces.
in other words will it work if soldered in correctly.
etc.?-thanks-jmf

yes. But it is still a legacy Atmega, which unfortunately is suffering from less than spectacular support, currently it is not up. But it is fun to play with, I have converted several 128's to 256. You need to be careful desoldering the 128 because you can easily damage the board if you don't know what you are doing.

Lexus already did that. It didn't work out so well.....but that could change, but don't count on it.
