Shot in the dark

I used to program Dave until the p4 shut us down. I am looking at trying to get back into watching TV again, but I have no idea where to get started on Bev/DN. If someone can just give a little bit of advice on what to buy, that would be great. I would be starting completely from scratch. No receiver, no dish, no lnb, not a single scrap of equipment.

Any help would be welcome.
