if you'r romcode app reads LAST UPDATE 1/21/2008 10:00:00 AM, then you took BEV's update for new provider.

and if you'r not a BEV user, then that's the reason you still got locals. That update isn't for charlie dudes....

As posted elsewhere the coder for RC is dealing with a family situation: his father has lung cancer and it has spread to many other areas. He is in the hospital now and his coder/son is with him.

My mother died of lung cancer and I have never experienced something so horrible.....Never.. I am not and probably will never be over it... That being said this is a buisness but if it were mine at that time it would not be a buisness for long....I am very sorry to hear this news..

Guys search around for a backup that you can use in cases like this.That is what I do.. I believe this is a recode situation for RC and not an easy fix. They are very cautious and still ran at 10A....

I think most of these coders are a one person operation and when something comes up we pay the price. I know if I had to decide "one of my parents or my business" my parent(s) would come first.

Also I think it in poor taste to discuss a competitor's product on mili's forum. Just my 2 cents though.

My sympathies to RC coder. I know the majority of his subscribers support him and will be patient.

I have been a supporter of Mili since dave went down. He will continue to be my choice for hardware, software, support and information.

That said, even Mili has said that "If you can't do without tv, have a backup available for times like this".

While I can see where Mili would rather not see competitors products discussed in his Forum, Most of his products seem to be the best in the long run. Private blockers still require hardware that Mili provides.

I do not speak for him but I believe he would be tolerant to other fixes being discussed.

Hello all, I have been looking for a forum that has some support information for RC since their forums shutdown. I have been RC user for over a yr and for the most part its fairly easy. THere are those times that we have to wait that 24-48hrs for the fixes, but there are many times that a emm comes down the stream and we never see a hint of problems. Hey I was a bit upset myself when having to wait so long when it is something I pay for as well and I have dealer package with many Bit**in in my ear as well.

Hey If it was my family I have to say that that reason eases my concerns, I have wondered recently with some of the delays if RC was going down hill and now that my renewal is comming due soon it defanilty brought concern.

I have so say that if the coder's having such a serious family issue, then hey I can wait. Put yourself in his/her shoes.. Sure I dont expect to wait a week but if TV is really that important have a extra ird and keep a freeware option available and really does not require nothing but your time in reading and learning. RC is very easy to use but the same hardware you use to code your Rom can just as easily work with freeware or other coding options.

I am new here but been testing since, well you could use a rock and chizel so you learn that patience is a must in this hobby. Mili seems to have a great colaboration of support for various coding options and I think I just might have found a new home for my testing needs.

I would imagine that RC will shoot something out to us soon enough.. Soaps do suck though.. HAAHAHA

Guys you need to be more patient, i totally understand that its a business and all those points, but this is different from a open to the public Legal business. most of the coders that sell support work alone and when there are isues, we as customers have to bite the bullet and wait. we are always at the mercy of coders, whatever the testing method. Same with usb atmegas, their coder Fab5 had internet or some kind of issues and has caused downtime, thats the facts. If you want GUARANTEED SERVICE, get you a sub. I have read the ads for the romcode blocker and I dont see where any fix is guranteed in any specified time. He will get it fixed as soon as possible. Be patient or sub. selling pot is a business, you ever get a credit when the dope man is late, does he guarantee to have it. this is illegal so your statements about being a businessman is not even comparable.

However it would be wrong for me. I enjoy the service and have a backup for these occasions. I have used freeware and do not want to go unknown provider and have password issues and all the other crap that happens and it does happen. I have had to glitch back in quite a few times. Not for me. Does this down time make me happy....NO....Does speaking to India when I call RCA or many others make me happy....NO....That however is the way it is right now and making intelligent decisions that are right for you is your only recourse.

the new keys on start-up?? I haven't noticed any new keys in a few

I understand like many that this is a risk and I have gambled in the past. Won some, lost some but I don't like getting stiffed. I understand that there might be personal issues here but I just purchased yesterday and they never said anything about this issue. I think there is something wrong when people take money for something they are not able to do, no matter what the reason they can't do it. An honest businessman lets his customers know whats going on and doesn't take money for what he can't give a service for. We all have shit to deal with and some of us have businessses too but we still have to deal with our customers. I am new here but not new to testing and I have seen my share of fly by night dealers, don't know if this guy is but I guess time will tell. Silverman has nothing to do with selling romcode. he sold dealers credits and they have been reselling what they purchased from him. he is a one man company at RomProtect, not romcode. he has no dealings with romcode except coding the blocker. period. I'm not going to suggest to you what to use, but I will tell you what I did.
I've been using RC for so long that I haven't been keeping up on what blockers and methods are being used at this time for manually programming the 102 cards, so I went to several forums and found a post at one that was a step-by-step procedure (spoonfeeding lol) for using a "c0d3sP4c3" blocker (102 only). Had my 510 getting all channels in about half an hour or so. That was earlier this afternoon, and it is still working now at 1:00 AM............. As for being as safe as RomCode, I have no idea, so I gots my fingers crossed. This Forum also has help for the c0d3sP4c3 blocker, just use the search feature......... JR

No, didn't change anything in the receiver, just cleaned the card with the RomCode proggy and saved it as an image with NagraEdit 5.2. I then used MR-Tierworks to wipe the current tiers from the image, then went back and added the receiver #, box keys, and cam ID to tierworks, and saved the new tiers as a patch file. I then added my password to the blocker file and saved it as a patch file also. Used NagraEdit 5.2 to add the patches to the image and save again, then used N2Edit 2 to write the bin to the card............ Oh almost fergot, also had to use a program called "Dish 106 key changer" to fetch and add the new keys to the bin.

IRJR, I went the same way as you did, only difference is I haven't been able to make my codespace work.

I am a bit hesitant to move because I have used the same card without fail for almost two years with rc but all this makes me wonder why no response from the coder.. He is currently dealing with some personal family issues with a close member of the family in the hospital and suffering from Cancer and he has been spending time at the hospital as of late.

Romcode spoofs Rev 10a so users will know if their card is locked by the app or streamlocked. If they both locked at 10c it would be impossible to know for sure if it was app's unlocking not working or the card got stream updated. The romcode blocker has all the updated codespace as others but has this built in for for this very purpose.

all blockers spoof some rev, your card is at Rev 103 and when a blocker is applied it spoofs a rev so the providers will not recognize as an unwanted entry. Same principal as the rom10 to 102. it was a rom 10 that was spoofed to a rom 102. it was still a rom 10 but appears to the ird as a 102. Spoofing can be done to almost any rev. The VIP irds now are running rom 103's spoofed to rom 206 in order for them to work. So to save users from figuring out if its streamlocked or dealer locked, the coder put this failsafe to be sure which it is. I hope this helps more than confuses. Simply dont worry about the spoof, the romcode blocker works with the same pertinent info as all other blockers. Now i know that other blockers role at times that romcode does not but that is because the coder has sided on the side of protection versus autorolling. You will not have to worry about a card getting looped with software if you use it as the coder says.

Not sure what the actual cause was but it was something the blocker didnt like and it would not let it pass. The problems with the MCEM are tat they send down packets and you see these patches posting everywhere, whic is dangerous if you blindly put on your card. You can not know what the new packet does until there is a new key which is used in decrytpting the MCEM. So if some people add the patch before its deemed safe and it contains marking code or worse a loop, then as soon as the new key comes...ZAP card is history.
A little side note. This blocker has many, many users and probably is owned by the bad guys, so they can look at it and target it so the coder has to make it safe enough that even if you know the code of the blocker it is untouchable.

The operative word is appears. There have been no loop ecm's in the stream. cards are looped when dish or bev sends loops code through the stream. its not in the stream all of the time which is why all of these public and private blockers are rolling. If a loop is sent there will be widespread looping of cards as always.

I dont understand you statement about running at 10c.
what you spoof to makes no difference whatsoever as long as the code in the blocker is correct. The code inside the blocker is what gets you audio and video. Until this last MCEM romcode was rolling for almost a month using the deathwish and after 005 options if that is what you choose. And running those are safe as long as a loop is not in the stream, but if there is a loop ecm then they could be looped. with 10% safe while others are looped, your cam will safe. I along with others have used silvermans blockers since the rom 3 days and I have never had a card looped. I remember the rom 3 loop when all other blockers looped their cards but not the silverman blocker. None have been looped with the last 2 big loop ecms, like 12/12 and the latest one.

The problems with the MCEM are tat they send down packets and you see these patches posting everywhere, whic is dangerous if you blindly put on your card. You can not know what the new packet does until there is a new key which is used in decrytpting the MCEM. So if some people add the patch before its deemed safe and it contains marking code or worse a loop, then as soon as the new key comes...ZAP card is history.
A little side note. This blocker has many, many users and probably is owned by the bad guys, so they can look at it and target it so the coder has to make it safe enough that even if you know the code of the blocker it is untouchable.

This makes so much sense. That's always the risk with public code available to both sides of the game. It's the risk anyone takes going on a free-public blocker that is bound sooner or later to be attacked. Just the way it happened on 12/12.


One thing that I've found interesting is that charlie took some time off these days from the key changing and everything. It's almost as if they took a break because they know RC is down for a while.... maybe I'm being WAY TOO paranoic.

To put it in a nutshell, in order to roll the keys, the providers have to get inside your card to write these keys. well there are some places that you want to keep them out of. which is where the cat and mouse games come in. In my opinion this being now, they are lulling everyone to roll the MECM's without seeing what they are going to do and then bam everyone is looped because they have the new MECM on their card and when the new key rolls in unfiltered it activates the latest code and your cam is looped or they hit your ird or whatever is in the code that we blindly let in.

What I am saying is that it has the possiblilty of being looped if there is a loop in the stream but I have never had a card looped using silvermans blockers. But my point is that deathwish can be looped where the 100% safe cannot and will not be looped. Its not a gurantee that deathwish will make it throught a loop ecm. Cobra it is up to you guys to chose to use it or not, but I cant gurantee the deathwish will not get looped but I can the 100% safe.
If it happens like the last 2 loop ecms, it gets known quickly that a loop is in the stream and people are advised to pull their cards and most can save theirs by pulling them. If you are an avid reader of the forums you have a good chance of saving your card no matter what blocker you are using if you pull your card in time.

ive been using romcode for along time....its easier and safer....if you have the money to get a backup card then use the deathwish option to roll the keys....if you dont then you cant afford to be lazy and you have to use the 100% option which you have to change the keys manually....no biggy

now then....ive never had a problem with romcode untill now....i understand the situation and its really not that big of a deal.....we are testers....learn to use other platforms......codespace is working so use that blocker...as a matter of fact someone posted a file in this thread which has all the tools and instructions....and its idiotproof...use that for now

if you have a card thats not married to the ird you will need the box keys and ird from the bin you are using public or private and you will have to jtag the ird with those #s and marry the card to the ird

I am quoting you gentlemen at the same time, I under stand the current situation and really don't mind waiting as family comes before anything.

My point was since some of us ( if not most of us ), bought the romcode package so they don't have to go and figure out the public side of programming, we have no clue where to look for. Atleast, I am not sure so when I see a tempting link which could get it working and there is another charge to get the files, its was a bit concerning. I am not demanding or protesting, I just said it was my opinion

But, since I see most of you have dealt with complaints in this thread, you took me in the same boat. Instead of calling each other "whiners" and sucking up to impress others, why don't you come up with some temporary solutions, if not atleast guide us through some steps ( thats not too much to ask )

Since many of you have been here, I am sure you are experienced enough to help others and whatever little or more you guys do will be highly appreciated

Got email from them today:
We apologize for the recent down time but there is nothing we can do at this

He is currently dealing with some personal family issues with a close member
of the family in the hospital and suffering from Cancer and he has been
spending time at the hospital as of late.

Thank you all, and I sencerely apologize for the late update (posted today).

I've been out of town visiting him since Wednesday last week. It seems one doctor paints a grim picture, then the next is optimistic. Overall, it's a pretty poor situation, but we still have hope for getting it under control.

A tumor in his back has caused about 95% paralysis from the chest down, but after 5 days of radiation on it, he's now able to wiggle toes which he could not before. So there is some improvement at least.
