I used usb to serial to connect iso programmer which reads and writes card in n2edit and nagramaster, however every time i try to use rc to programm card, it starts reading it like the atr , card type and provider and then on the bottom gives an error saying error reading from com port.

You did not mention your OS (XP or Vista), but I believe the cable will not work with your ISO!

well just to give you another option, my computer cames with no serial, nor parallel ports. It's a gaming board, and it left me pretty much incommunicated with all my iso programmers and loaders.
Sometimes the conversion from USB to serial is not a "real" COM port that can be addressed in a conventional way.
The way I fixed my problem was to buy an expansion card with serial and parallel ports in it. This card goes connected to a PCI bus and can have the serial and parallel ports addressed in a conventional manner. That's how I was able to get RC to run again and it reads and programs my cards normally and really well.
A card like that you can get for $20 or so.

I had same problem and found after using several db9 serial adaptors from different suppliers that a BAFO Serial adaptor works with RC on a Laptop with RC installed. None of the others I have tried (over 7 different brands) have worked

I am running XP on my laptop with a Usb Iso and it works great......
You must download the drivers for the Usb Iso and change in the settings to which port its plugged into.......
I have had no issues using the Usb Iso and I think its great.......
