And I quote:
Software Support - Work in Progress - Jan 28, 2008

Just to let everyone know what is going on.

First off, my Dish signal has been restored so I can test the software for both Dish and Bev in real time from my location.

Second, I am in the process of re-writing the entire emu-core timer and opcode functions.

I am doing this for two reasons:

1. The providers like to re-use old code or variations thereof, so rather than releasing patches when this happens, the new core emu file will process the latest updates correctly. This will mean less down time for everyone.

2. The providers are now running code that requires EXACT cycle counts of code execution. Again, rather than releasing a new patch for each code update, the new emu-core file will automatically process the updates.

In addition, I will add the timings for the Map calls, such as Map57 and my method of treating such timings statistically rather than relying on brute-force fixes.

In the end, we will have a bullet-proof emulation platform that should not go down often.

This will all take me about 3-4 days to complete and will be painful for you guys, but it needs to be done.

Please be patient. We will all be back up in a snap!

Fab5

This sucks ass but at least he is working on the fucking thing.

Good to hear something from at least one coder, now if only we could hear something about the Enigma. BTW Is there still a huge delay in getting USB atmegas now?

3-4 days for bullet proof emulation? That doesn't seem logical.

Great analogy spanga. I have more confidence in fab5 than any other coder with his "own" product and doing it in the harshest of conditions we've ever seen in this hobby.

On another note....Please, Please, PLEASE get this done in time for super bowl fab5. :p I have other options, but the more the merrier. It's safe to assume they're gonna hit us with everything they've got about Friday and maybe even an hour before the game. ;)

when Fab5 promises something, believe me he really means it..........coming from him is more assuring than if it was coming from any other coder........time, of course, will show

Nothings bulletproof..

I think what he means is history can repeat itself without any need to upgrade like there currently is... Updates will be easily integrated without reworking all the code to make 'that' fix work..

You gotta love this hobby: personally I liked it when we were all looking for "jump points" but those days are long gone and we are at a far different level now.

So saying I tip my hat to this current, new breed of coders!
