If a person bought a new 625 that had never been authorized and had them turn it on would it go immediately to an unlockable rev, or does it do it in steps? Could you disconnect it from the stream before it went all the way to 38B or whatever the latest rev is? I guess it wouldn't come on until it got to the current rev. Has anyone thought of trying this or know the answer? Thanks for any help. I'm consider trying to unlock the 625 at rev 389 I have, don't have that much invested in it.

usually rev 389 is better than 50% if you have the "right" person do it. Main thing is be patient.
with a virgin 625, the first thing it's going to want to do is update the f/w on the receiver. it takes quite awhile for an icam or card to update completely.
if you called dish and activated it and shut off after you got it activated, it would still be a baby rev and easily openable.
hope this helps.

on the other hand, personally, i would just take and have the icam mounted on bga and unlocked. then have the actual ird cloned. (usually around $90-100 + ship) if you activate it, then do it, you run the chance of looping it, and if that happens, cloning is the only option, and you are going to have the added expense of buying a rom103.

my advice? try and unlock the 389 before you do anything with the virgin...

Thanks for advice. I was going to remove the icam and mount it on a bga card and try to unlock to get my info, wire up the card slot or run an internal emu. I need to do some more research on removing the icam. I don't have a new 625 but was thinking of trying to get one if my idea was right about the low rev. I guess I will work on the one I have to start with. I've got a 311 that I might should practice on removing the icam before I try the 625. It's been a while since I unlocked a card, the last was a rev 109 I think. What's the best program to try to unlock a icam rev 389? Thanks again everyone.
