Currently my setup consists of a dish 500 dish, a sw21, a 2800 with st19xl. I am looking to upgrade my TV to HD, and of course want to bring my testing along with it. What different equipment would I need, and which IRDs are compatable with st19xl setups?

you can get a 6000 receiver or a 6100 receiver, the 6000 is jtaggable and the 6100 is not so you have to glitch the icam in the 6100 w/o looping it.

But aren't there only a couple of HD channels that the 6000 can do? I thought it could only do MPEG2 and most of dish's HD channels are MPEG4. Or am I wrong/

bev is still mpeg 2 on their HD, dish has moved most of theirs (maybe all?) to mpeg 4

I have no idea how to glitch into an icam, so I think i might be stuck in standarad def.

Would I need a new dish or change my angles?

OK so a 6100 is capable of decoding the mpeg4/HD channels, but is not jtagable....

If so, can someone point me in the right direction for instructions on glitching into an icam, and then converting everything to work with EMU?

I'm eager to move to HD :-)

Also I'm up with dish 500 and sw21 right now. Does HD require anything different?

The 6100 CAN decode mpeg 4? Is there some sort of modded firmware or an addon decoder or something?

Best solution is an FTA HD receiver from Sonicview or Viewsat. I'm still running a 102 / Atmega USB (when it's up) in my 6000. Still get about 8 HD channels as well as OTA locals. But I Iong for all the HD programming that Dish has to offer and was about to drop the ~$600 for a full FTA HD setup when all the MAP timing started and now have held off. I do not know of any MPEG4 Dish receivers that are hackable without great effort and excellent soldering skills.

I was reading the above post, assuming it meant that the 6000 was not capable but the 6100 was capable? I guess I read that wrong. Oh well.
