6100 -Your smart card is not inserted Correctly-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All of a sudden today my 6100 is saying Your smart card is not inserted Correctly I tried reinserting the card (BGA and a regular Card) many times but keeps saying the same thing. One time it seemed to work but after 10 minutes it gave me an Internal Communication error and then after pressing OK it came up with the same message, Your smart card is not inserted Correctly
I did this mod months ago and its been fine until today. I DID NOT lift the Vcc pin on the ISO slot for this mod but that is about it. Like I said ..worked great until today. Anyone run into something similar ? I have checked all connection for loose wires or cold solder but they seem to be fine. This sux, I was loving this box

I am having the same problem with Bev 811. Card not inserted correctly.
It seems there was a Bev software update today.
My other Emu 811 has this message also.

when wiring up your card slots, did you guys short the switch at the back of the card slot? THe switch in question detects if a card is inserted or not. I have not taken the update yet, but I did short this out (so the reciever always thinks there is no card in the slot). Im thinking that on your ird's the ird may be looking at the slot for a card and doesnt see one, hence the error.

it looks like this may be the culprit. didnt seem to be a factor until this latest firmware update. I get the nag everytime I reset the receiver. I only lifted pins I/O, Vcc, Clk, Rst when doing this mod.
Is there any way you can post a picture of what it is I need to jump or short ? I am not familiar with which is the correct way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you.

if you look at the back of the cardslot from above you will notice two contacts at the back. when the card is not present, they make contact. when a card is inserted, the card forces them apart. If you take a look you will see it right away. I simply soldered this connection together (so the ird thinks the card isnt present). My guess is they have now enabled the card slot on the cardless ird's...as im sure there will be an upcoming swap to the rom206 soon enough (pure speculation, but it makes sense...). This may be the first sign of the coming swap....

i concur with borg79. I have jumped the 2 connections and the box reset fine and is working.
jagger11...I would double check your tiers for your situation. If you have a wide open tier 0001-7FFF you will get a nag like yours.

they are preparing for the swap...it'll probably start by summer i would guess. :( As far as that message goes, try breaking your 3m tier into 3 tiers (eg, 0001-3333, 3334-6667, and 6668-7FFF) should help with the nag.

Just wondering if someone can confirm if they got rid of the snic message. I tried closing the circuit and now I get internal error message! Only after upgrade.....stupid thing is I voluntarily took the new sw.

First, re-open the circuit and restore it the way it was before you messed with it. Now, once you get the smart card not inserted incorrectly nag/message, pull the card out about 1/8 on an inch then press, "OK" on your remote. The IRD will reboot, and it will hang up on the 1 out of 5 progress aquiring signal screen. At this point, push the card all the way into the card slot and let the IRD restart normally. Watch TV.
TLK
Shortening cardslot did not work for me eather (internal communication error).
Try this mod in the picture - this works fine.
Check your card slot, see if you have power "leg" from the card slot cut and connected to R575 pad (beside where the ICAM was) if you don't have that you will need to do it and connect TP 62 to GND.

Hey guys, every few days i get a 'smartcard not authorized for this rec' error on two of my 6100s (using st19 and real aux). My wiring is just like you all have, not sure if its a wiring issue. DOes anyone else here whos runing a maxmel have a reset mod done on the maxmal? Mine doesnt, wonder if its an issue with this rec? Thanks for any help!

My Modded HD811 is getting "Your smart card is not inserted Correctly" NAG.
I updated the 106 keys and the 101 key. I have read about others having to change the MOD. Can any one tell me if the HD811 needs this change and how or am I screwed.
Thanx
