View Full Version : Matching Virgin Rom102 image to IRD???

I've been away from plastic since the demise of Rm10 and have gotten stupid with FTA for almost three years.
I have open Rom 102s and can read and write the cards with N2Edit. I have the unlocked virgin image off one of the virgin Rom102s. My IRDs are jtagged and I have my IRDs' TSOP and all the info such as IRD number, Box Keys, etc.
The problem I'm having is: where do all these things go on the Rom102 image so I can match it to my IRD? With Rom10, and NagraEdit you just typed in the box keys, time zone, CAM ID, IRD ID, zip code, (and probably many other things I've forgotten).
I have N2Edit, MrTierworks, DT08. I canuse N2Edit OK but Mr Tierworks and DT08 are a bit of a problem especially DT08. If you read inthe TSOP and the Card image , can you then transfer the info from the Tsop onto the card image?
I have searched for a eeprom map or a programming guide or a newbie guide for programming Rom102. Even a list of the items that need to be added to a virgin Rom102 image to match it to the IRD. Haven't found anything. I have found a few step by step guides for setting up emulation or setting up plastic but these assume you already have a card image matched to the IRD.
Any suggestions on what I might search for?
Thanks,

Can't transfer receiver to card, won't work, have to transfer card to receiver. Use GenDT-08-SK and make a married set, real easy.

Does GenDT08 work as you suggest using a virgin Rom102 image? It would seem that I would need to add some thing - at least the CAM ID? There probably is minimum amount of data that needs to be added to the card image before applying it's info to the IRDs TSOP??? I guess I should reread the readme that came with the GenDT08 ;-) The good news is that my first attempt does not need to be written to the card as it will be used for AUX. So the image will be my core file which is a lot more forgiving if it blows up.

If you have a copy of the Flash/TSOP image that is on your receiver then do this:
(THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR USING SK ON YOUR RECEIVER, If you are using DT08 they are slightly different)
Open GENDt08
Where it says FILENAME (under TSOP Tab) click on the folder and select your TSOP / Firmware file.
Click on the CARD INFORMATION Tab and select a CLEAN.bn102 (or your bn102.. which ever)
Now go back to the TSOP Tab
Check USE SECONDARY KEY
Uncheck FFFF OUT OLD BOXKEYS
Click Fix CRC (should be highlighted in RED)
Now along the bottom of GENDt08
Click TSOP RSA
Click Card RSA
Click CALC SK
Click Save Card
Click SAVE KEYS
Now Save that bn102 and the keys in a safe spot (ie- make folder Living Room 301.013)

Just to clarify... My unlocked Rom102 and it's virgin image has no CAM ID, no timezone, no zip code, no IRD info on it. That's the way I got it (actualy three of them). It was never married to a receiver. As I said, I will use the ROM102 for AUX, so I don't need to write to it with whatever I create as my first attempt. But Iwill use that first ROM102 modified image as my cor file for st19xl emulation. I would assume that my cor file needs all the stuff that would be programmed on the card if I were using plastic directly in the IRD???
My IRDs are 3900s. It looks likeI can use SK with that as it's not listed as "no SK" in the readme for the GenDT08.
When I use the secondary key for the TSOP, it says it places the secondary key on the IRD and moves the original box keys so does that mean it creates new box keys form the secondary key? Where does it put the original box keys - or do we care since I have the original TSOP with the original box keys which I can restore back onthe IRD anytime?
That brings up another question... Since my IRD has been out of the stream for more than two years it's TSOP has not been updated since TSOP version P236. Should I let it update in the stream - I think I remember how to do a cardless update or I could put it's married ROM10 in it while it still has P236 on it and let it update???
I've been through this learning curve before from the H card Plastic til BlackFriday to H card emulation to H with HU spoof emulation, to HU Plastic to ROM 10 Plastic to CEMU until the ROM10 quit and then FTA till now. I obviously have a lot to learn and relearn, but I still have FTA while I'm experimenting with this.

OK, I followed the step-by-step below and ended up with a corrupted IRD after the modified TSOP was flashed to the IRD. I was able to get it back by writing the original unmodified TSOP and writing the original eeprom, and then writing again the original TSOP.
When I look at your instructions, there is three steps that are different than the GenDT08 instructions from the readme file.
Your instructions say to
Click TSOP RSA
Uncheck FFFF OUT OLD BOXKEYS
Click Fix CRC (should be highlighted in RED)
Those steps are not in the GenDT08 readme instructions.
Does that make a difference in the result - enough to get a corrupted TSOP?
I wish I understood everything I know
Let me know what you think.
One other question - In GenDT08 under 'Card Information' there is a selection for a "Lock Byte" - either 03, unlocked or 06, Locked. It comes up 06, Locked. What should that be set to if I'm going to save the Card Image when done?

I finally figured out my problem - my TSOP backup copy was corrupted and that caused the married resultant TSOP from GenDT08SK to likewise be corrupted. I had another backup copy which I had saved on a whim and using that copy worked OK.
I also had problems with my jtag cable and connector with broken and intermittant shorted wires which didn't help matters either.
I'm using this with st19xl with AUX.
All seems to be working now - but Dish is down with st19xl, so I can only check the barker channels but that is enough to prove the technique works.
Thanks to all - expecially to empulse.
Now my next project is to figure out how to design the blackout string to allow locals from two local areas - if that is possible. I'm between Boston area and Portland Maine area so I curently get both sets of locals and have them mapped in to their broadcast channel numbers on my FTA. Don't know if its possible for a Dish receiver setup to do that.
