Phoenix loader question

First time trying to use this , says don't need to use jumper on atmega 128 card , will Phoenix program still work if jumper is used , read before that the card can be damaged if you try to program it with the jumper missing. Just want to be sure before I leave the jumper off.

I have been using jumper atmega for quite some time and ever since the wicked atmega loader i havent used the jumper and havent had any trouble with wicked or phoniex

I couldn't get mine to work. Tried everything. It said it programmed it OK and I thought I did everything right for my 6000 but still said "Smart card not inserted properly".

when programming and you have choice to select crystal speed. top rright hand box that has 3.8... or whatever in it, change to 4.5 and it should work

I did that. Changed clock to 4.50 and still nothing. No biggie. I'll just try something else.

I have always use the jumper with PAL and i has always worked fine. Only have one jumper atmega out of many jumperless atmegas. Have never tried using that one without the jumper. Like people stated it must be set to 4.50 or for some 4.608.

to answer my own question here for those reading and learning . You can leave the jumper off but be sure to change the 3.8 default setting to 4.50 in the crystal speed box or you will get the error ( card not inserted corredtly nag)
