I have a 3900 that had been in storage for three years and I just took it out and first I read the TSOP with jKeys (old version from 2003). It was at version P236 from 2004 when it was last connected. I then connected the receiver and checked it out connected to the srteam to check it's operation and switch setup, etc. It works fine getting the barker channels (101, 500).
In the process I allowed the receiver to update so I wold have the latest TSOP rev - assuming I could rewrite the TSOP if I needed. The receiver updated to P353.
Today I connected my jtag again and tried to read the updated TSOP and jKeys can not find the receiver.
I downloaded the latest version of jKeys rev 02.17.07 from 2007 and it also can not connect to the receiver.
Before I start taking my jtag apart I wanted to check if anyone knowsif there is a limitation on what rev level TSOP can be detected? Has DISH done something with the latest TSOPs to keeep the jtag from working?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks, This IRD's jtag worked fine yesterday morning but I have been moving my IRD around while playing with it and have knocked the jtag's 25 pin D connector on the end of my jtag ribbon cable around in the process. The D conector is not secured very well (no clamp) on the end of the ribbon cable so can be pulled off the cable if I try hard enough. I just wanted to know if there was any limitation on jkeys before I started taking apart my IRD and/or my jtag ribbon cable and connector.

Thanks,

Ok, found the problem... It was a broken solder connection inside the 25 pin D connector enclosure. One of the solder connectins had come loose from the ribbon cable where it was soldered on the resistor. Fixed it and now all better. jKeys works fine with my jtag.

This was one of my earlier jtags. In my later versions, I put shrink tube on on the solder connections on the D connector, over the resistors and over the ribbon cable's solder connections for extra protection against shorts and a little extra strength for the connections.

If I were to do another, I would make the ribbon cable a little longer to bring it up the back for a more secure installation - or... I might punch a hole with a chassis punch for the D connector to eliminate all the movement.

Thanks,
