I have superforge running over the net, I assume. Im using the 192.168.xx ip address and it connects and works great on my two computers using wireless internet . On my main computer with the aux card the server shows all three as connected and working. Ok here is my problem.
I make a superforge folder identical to the ones in my wireless network and take to nephews house and have his virtual ports setup correct and everything else is correct. I know its correct because we tried his computer here then took it to his house and it was working fine here.
At his house, the server connects fine but the client says failed to connect over and over.
how do I get his to connect to my server

The 192..... address means local server, it is not your internet IP.
You need to go start-=> Run then type IPCONFIG to get your network's IP address over the internet.
This is the IP address that you need to put into his computer.
I am not running this over the net but you may also have to assign port forwarding in your router to your specific server machine as well.

wow thanks, think the port forwarding may be over my head, but thanks.

port forwarding is easy, its just a matter of saying that port xx goes to local ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. It should be pretty self explanatory in your router. What model router are you using on the superforge server side? That is the side you need to forward your ports on...
Or you could setup a hamachi vpn then no port forwarding is required plus your aux traffic will be encrypted. Do a search on hamachi and i think you'll find its very very simple to setup. Just a matter of installing the client using the wizard to make a new vpn network with a password, then going to the other computer and joining the network with the password you set it up with. If you want to look into hamachi and have any issues post back, I will keep an eye out.

actually from the way you r describing it, you are behind a router, so going to start, run, and typing IPConfig will only give you the 192.168.x.x number. You need to look at the number that is the gateway. Then go inito IE and type that number in. Assuming the router supports a web interface, you should be able to log into it through there. Go to the status page (or whatever the router has) and find out the WAN IP Address. While you are in there, you'll also need to set up port forwarding. That is easy. Whatever port you configured on the server superforge computer, you need to add to the router, and for the IP address put the server's IP. Save it, go back to your friends house and set the client up to connect to the WAN IP Address you got out of the router. Everything should work.
If you give a little more info...like the router you are using and the port you are using on the server. I can give you some more detailed instructions on it if you need.

My router is a WRT54G. I went into gaming and applications and configured to my port im using and my ip address 192.168.2.101 and port 5757(not really but for this im using 5757) but im still getting failed connection
I have the user names and passwords in the new folder across town and mine on server computer are identical. I will read about hamachi and see if im smart enough to try that,
thanks for your help

to find your outside IP address go to hxxp://whatismyip.com change the xx to tt and it will show give you your IP address. But if your provider is using dynamic IP it will change from time to time unless you have a static IP then it will not change you can verify this by sinply writing down that number and checking it again every day for a few days. even if you have a dynamic IP there are other ways to get around that problem like any free dynamic DNS but for now get a good connection. To make sure everything is working go to your client PC and open a command prompt "cmd" from start | run. now in this command prompt telnet to the server PC using the internet address and port you setup. Here is the Example
telnet 69.147.114.210 5757
so the telnet command | the IP address from whatismyip | port number
this will connect and probably give you some bogus info or some error but if it just hangs or fails to connect you are being blocked somewhere probably the WRT54G is not setup correctly.
Give this a try and tell us what you get.
by the way that IP above is from yahoo so if change the port number to 80 you should get a connection "this way you can see what the connection will look like for the real test"
telnet 69.147.114.210 80
you may have to type in some info for the yahoo server to respond, any random letters and ENTER keys will do and it will eventually fail. try to connect to a diferent port and it will never connect and give you an error.

Thanks guys for all your help. I could not have gotten through this without your help. I actually took a little bit from everyone and finally by trial and error, I got it to work. I went to the 192.168 and did the status and set to static and all that but could nevr fine the WAN address. So i started going through the 69.243.2 numbers that i saw and finally got it to see that ip address and connect and also sees my aux card. Since nephew is asleep, I used my wireless connection in the bedroom but used the new ip addresses. It was using the 192.168 address. So I assume this will also work from nephews house. So I thank all of you for your help.

Well I got it working on my nephews computer and its running fine but he is experiencing a good bit of freezing. We have played with the delays in the st19 batch file but have yet to find a good setting without freezing. Does anyone have this running to an outside location and working well. If you do and are njot experiencing freezing, please post your settings.
thanks
