I have the CS5K and have read a bit about adding the hardware to allow for use of plastic with it. It would seem like a nice Atmega 256 USB would be ideal, but I haven't found a compatability list that would point me in the right direction. Anyone with experience using the CS cardslots care to chime in on your experiences? All advice gratefully welcomed. thanks!

don't waste your time. The coders that were responsible for activating cards in the receivers to defeat the map calls no longer work for Coolsat. None of the files in the last year have incorporated the use of cards. The only cards I remember using were Rom 102 and possibly Rom 103. Atmega cards cannot defeat the map calls.

Thank you for the quick reply; I appreciate it. I had mistakenly thought the Atmega could be programmed, popped in, and work. I didn't realise it was specific to the box it was going into. Obviously I have to get back and do some more reading :) Thanks again.

That nice little card reader you received with your Coolsat was originally intended for a ROM102 & would reference the MAP calls when they came. As powell said, the coders that were keeping that in the bin have moved to a different brand. There has been no card support for Coolsat in about a year.
