Jtagging a 510 all ffffff

I'm pretty new to 510's but did you do the vidmod? The fff's could be caused by a bad jtag connection. resolder the connections and try it again.

yea i did the vidmod. if the jtag connections were bad, would it still show the receiver model on jkeys?

5100 dont need vidmod only 5800 and 5900

everyone knows this and its already been done; my question is why dont i get my ird info when i try to detect in jkeys. The model number of receivver comes up. but the ird # is all 0000000 and bk's FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF. When i try to write to tsop, it goes 99% and fails!!!

If it does that your vid mod or jtag has a loose wire I think!

Are you using the correct JKEYS with the moved info??

I have had more than 20 DVR510's run through my shop and ALL of them required a VidMod to write to the TSOP. (I'm not sure that an American 510 is a 5100...I thought a 5100 was Canadien for a PVR501???)

Make sure you have the CORRECT connections for your JTAG...do not confuse this with a PVR501!

be sure you select 508-510 at the bottom of the drop down screen in jkeys. NOT 501.

You are modifying and writing #2 flash?

I have posted (in the files section) a modified version of JKEYS which allows one to read/write to an IRD showing ffffff.

Not writing all the way thru indicates that a vid mod is needed.......check the chip type, if they are 323GT or 320DT, mod needed............... 323DT mod not needed.

00000000 for receiver and FFFFFFFF for boxkeys indicates wrong receiver type as mentioned above.

A 510 normally has a "moved ird info" type flash, when the flash is opened in flashedit, the receiver number and boxkeys are not in the same location as those in a 501/5100. The only jkeys option for these type flashes is the 508 setting... However, selecting 301 single tsop, just as a test, will also show the numbers correctly as the 301 single has the numbers in exactly the same location.

One of the OJ1 pads is ground.........so just jumping it is enough.

hmm, ok so let me get this straight.
i open jeys detect, then i go to flash program pullwire from ird.turn on oj1 switch. select flash 1. turn on vid mod erase flash. turn off select flash 2 turn on erase. then turn off.

then i go to flash edit. change numbers to public numbers. fix crc. save. then i go down and save virgin epprom. (do i need to select remove private info tab as well?)

then i go to gendt08-sk v3.3. load my flash2 with public info and card image.
(do i use rsa or sk) select card rsa then calcutate sk and save both card and flash.




write new bin with vid mod off. and oj1 on. then i write virgin epprom in epprom programming???

im sure most if not all of this is wrong. Can someone point me in the right direction as i've never done this before. allways messed with married subs and older irds!!

that is correct. my chip is a 323gt. i had it done by a friend who solders. it looks really clean. he drilled 2 holes. 1 for the r44 switch and a hole for the oj1 on off switch....also, he mounted a printer port (forgot what its called) to the back so all i need to do is run a printer cable from the ird to my computer. looks real legit.

Ok, cool.
OJ1 jumped before u start and stays that way till done.

When u go to he flash programming page of jkeys, dont do anything when the pop up screen says to unlug or whatever, the OJ1 jumper is taking care of all that, just click past that.

This is assuming u have a flash file prepared to write to flash 2.
With R44 switch off, erase flash 1, then select flash2. Then turn R44 sw on, erase flash 2. Then the write the new flash to flash 2. Turn R44 sw off, go back and write a virgin eeprom. U done. Unplug and unjump OJ1.

If u are setting it up for a public number box, get workmens cloner, and set up a virgin flash, FF SKs and put public info in the DT08 area.

The 510 then will detect correctly as a 501/5100 type flash, dont worry it's still a 510.

With Bandit's file, cloner would not be nescessary........that file should be ready to go....

If it's a public bn102, yes.
Do switch check, shut it down let it update then do switch check again.

Drive didnt marry................what flash version did u use?
P080 should be ok for a DC8x box.

That WILL NOT fix it...............needs a VIRGIN flash and eeprom............

ok i dl the virgin flash (is p79 ok) and epprom. how do you use that with the flash cloner program so i can start over.

Has a sourse tsop........and a destination.

Source is the one with good numbers, the P401...............destination is the virgin....
pretty self explanatory really.

No u aint got it.........black screen means u did not correctly clone the p401 to the p079. Write the p401 back now, drive is married, so should now work.
