As trying to convrt to puff bin!! i follwed the instructions ive pasted below: but when i loaded the boot 60 bin it when into the knight rider lights, the instructions said to load the new 640k bin, and i thought that was the newest 260 puff bin, so i tried to load that with the knight rider lights going. it did it, but they never stopped. it wont reboot into on position.
ive since found the right puff conversion file i think, but nothing will load with the knight rider lights going. i tried turning it off after they ran all night...nothing.
have i fried this thing??? anyone?? i guess i was beyond my scope to try, but ive managed conversions before to 2500- 2700. these instructionswere saying i had to
THIS IS WHAT I DID:D
QUOTE FROM BSINNED....."With this New PUFF style bin you will need to convert back to 2500 using just the boot60 bin.
As you have knight rider lights load the New PUFF 640 kb bin one time to get you converted to PUFF.
This is the easiest way we have found to do it so far"

Thanks Josh...
When you started over though did you reflash with the knight rider lights already going. Most instructions say to do it from the "ON" position, but I cant get it there. I did try loading with them going and it still wouldnt reboot, but I dont know if I was loading the right thing. Also....what exactly did you load. I loaded the Boot 60 bin which was supposed to put it back to a 2500 and then tried to load the 260 bin. Thank you!

Again, this stupid computer froze... Hi, Spiderwoman... It froze when I was trying to give you an answer... I said that I still do not fully undertand the reason for the change, but... I read in another forum fron people experiencing the same thing and they said "...If you uploaded the file jvvh_Fortec_Pansat_CanAm_(PUFF)_253_(640K) DO NOT upload this file" And they refers to the file "jvvh_Fortec_Pansat_255_(PUFF)". So seem to be working either trying again the procedure or uploading another PUFF bin. I hope this helps a little,

try this , reload boot 60 with the ---- going . shut off for 30 seconds then try loading 253 conversion file & wait for up to 5 minutes - till u see the ON word .
DO NOT be in a hurry . if u are successful getting the ON word after loading the 253 conversion file . u shut off the stb once again for another 30 seconds . load the 260 puff or newest binfile with the first light showing[coming ].
I did not try this but hope it works .
Now , the newest version is the LZMA PUFF . I have not try this LZMA .
BY the way , any binfile loading ; try not to be in a hurry and wait upto 30 seconds after the load completes before u disconnect the power supply .

You guys should really wait before you do all the conversion 'puff' mess that is out there.. They are still making the regular bins for the converted 2500-2700 receivers....dans_260 out this afternoon....I put that file on like the rest of them...and presto Tv is back and prewrestlemania is about to start....Again peole dont be in a rush to try new methods out when the old ones are still going to be around for a while

I agree with you mikepr!!! I said that in another forum where already read something from the "producers" of all this extensive confusion; they mention the intention of keep improving the PUFF method and stop the modding of the LZMA bins and keep them as a backup...

Oh I Know...believe me, I regret trying, but I never expected such a problem and Ive done other conversions. I was trying to not be afraid and try something that with what I read sounded like I had to do soon anyway.....sooo lesson learned though. I really wish I hadnt started this...grrr BUT thank you so much to everyone whose trying to help me out of it!

OK....so Ive gotten receiver into ON position...but it still says B 75. This is what I did. I started over with the original istructions as follows:
1. WITH FLU OR 2500 BOOTED UP SHOWING (ON) OR (CHANNELS)
2. WITH BOOT60 IN 2700 to FLU-2500 Loader Converter LOAD BOOT 60 AFTER LOADING YOU WILL GET KNIGHT RIDER(-----)
3. WITH KNIGHT RIDER FLASHING LOAD THE CS_208T B_75 Full_serial (640kb) AFTER IT LOAD COMPLETE IT WILL STOP (-) FOR 2 MINUTES DO NOT TURN BOX OFF THEN REBOOT AND FLASH B75 AND STOP ON 5 FOR 1 MINUTE DO NOT TURN OFF BOX AND LET IT BOOT ALL THE WAY UP
4.AFTER BOOTING UP, WITH CS_257T_B-75_Lightning_serial IN 2500 TO 2700 LOADER OR WHAT EVER LOADER YOU USE
5. TURN BOX OFF/ON AND AT THE FIRST FLASH HIT WRITE AFTER IT LOADS LET IT BOOT UP DO NOT TURN OFF BOX UNTIL IT'S BOOT UP, THEN DO A SETUP AND SCAN
ATTACH IS BOOT-60, CS_208T B_75 Full_serial,(640KB) CS_257T_B-75_Lightning_serial (448KB)AND LOADERS
The only diff was I used the CS_258T_B75_lightning serial. Now at least I go to the ON position...no more knight rider lights. But still no channels and because I didnt see the PUFF PUFF display, Im afraid to load a PUFF bin over this. Not sure if Ive converted..? Can someone tell me what to do..At this point I'd go back to the begining if I could. What should I download now that my reeiver is in normal "ON" display.... hmmm I had instrctions above about loading a 253 bin, but I could not find it anywhere. So where from here???? Thank you all so much

I really am sorry your having so many problems converting your box. Hundreds of peeps have done this w/ no issues. If your box is showing b-75 on the panel, load a b-75 bin to it.I would prob. use the new 260 b-75 thats out. PUFF & LZMA are totally different file formats and will certainly miss up your box if you dont load the correct one that your box has been converted to.You will all have to convert two one of these in the near future as the current b-75 compression method is runnig out of code space.I would suggest that you get yourself a bottle of your favorite wine, spend a little time reading up on this a little more before you fry your box beyond help. Its not a simple procedure, but not that difficult either. The wine will prob. help

First of all I have to thank Jvvh for always looking ahead of the game and for all he has done for us FLU/2500 reciever owner's.
We all should be very happy and realize how lucky we are to have Jvvh on our side.
The conversion bins we have now are running out of code space room.
Jvvh has for a bit now has this new style of conversion bins he calls PUFF.
With PUFF the BG (back ground) is put into the boot section freeing up the bytes that the BG takes up in the actual bin code itself.
This new style also allows us to go a little bigger in bin size if we need too.
I believe it's from 448 kb to 512 kb maybe even a bit bigger then that.
Maybe Jvvh will confirm the actual size we can go.
With this New PUFF style bin you will need to convert back to 2500 using just the boot60 bin.
As you have knight rider lights load the New PUFF 640 kb bin one time to get you converted to PUFF.
This is the easiest way we have found to do it so far.
Jvvh wanted something to show the peps when changing to PUFF that they will know that they have changed.
So Ukronic came up with a new display that will show on your reciever display screen.
Once converted to PUFF your reciever display at start up will go from b 7 5, b 7 5 to P U F F , P U F F. Pause on F for 30 seconds then come ON.
You can NOT load a normal b75 compressed 448 kb conversion bin to your reciever afterwards and it must be a new PUFF 448 kb conversion bin.
You can NOT load a 448 kb PUFF conversion bin over the b75 conversion bins either.
You must convert using PUFF 640 kb conversion bin first in order to load a New PUFF 448 kb conversion bin.
For now who's ever PUFF 640 kb conversion bin you put on your reciever to convert to PUFF will be the BG you will have embedded into boot section of your reciever.
Don't worry Jvvh says we need to come up with tools to allow you to change BG but that will be in do time.
If you use my PUFF 640 kb conversion bin to convert to PUFF,
Yes you can use other PUFF 448 kb conversion bins done by others afterwards but it must be PUFF style.
NO you will NOT just have to use my PUFF 448 kb conversion bins.
It will just keep my BG on your reciever thats all. Again the BG you will be able to change in do time.
I have my PUFF 640 kb bin done already (Thanks to Ukronic) and it is a 253 bin so it is up and running.
Just wanted to test it out first before I start releasing it to the public.
Everyone will need to eventually change to the PUFF style bins but I will post both sets to give peps the time to convert over to PUFF but again "You will have to eventually do it".
Want to give HUGE THANKS to Jvvh for always looking out and passing his knowledge on to us. "You are truly the man Jvvh5897"
Special THANKS to Ukronic for helping me understand and helping me out time and time again.
If it wasn't for Ukronic as well, I wouldn't know most of the things I know now.

We have another type of compression used for the convert-boxes, this one is called LZMA, but not exactly do-able as a front display, and is still technically part (PUFF) so the name will remain the same to avoid most confusion.
One difference being, after the new compression has taken... the display will now have a period with the last (F.) to show that you have the new compression installed. As for the binfiles themselves...they will have to be CLEARLY marked 256_lzma(PUFF.).bin or something of the sort.
As always, if your not sure, DON'T do it !!!
****IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO JTAG BEFORE FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH THIS****
***FOR BOXES WITH B-75 or PUFF ALREADY INSTALLED***
**NOTE: BOOT60 IS NOT REQUIRED **
